thanks to the power that is the internet, and my forever good luck ;D, i have found a possible link to why this tunic is sooooooo crazy to handle. before everyone starts deeming me psycho, let us take into consideration that 9 timings out of the 10 the jedi tunic is always envolving with every movie. ok, we all know that the costume department spent forever and a day taking drawn designs and making them real with fabric, and we all know that the inspiration came from the samurai and japanese kimonos and such. all right! the tunics were orientally inspired, don't get your undies in a wad :-Xgeez! what i did discover on the web is there are certain kimonos and robes in Japan that have collors(eri) that go down to about the waist. so in the retrospect...more like rewind...make those tunics and have fun...but don't freak...that collar goes to the waist and the rest is all the down hill keep those sabers high and remember what Elvis always said...Thank ya, Thank ya very much....

while surfing the starwars sites, i found a close up pick of mace windu's tunic peeking from behind his belt,
and from what i saw, there is a waist seam,it is hidden behind the jedi belt, and tabbards,i have no idea which site it was,but i did see that tho. i may luck out and find it again, if so i'll post the site addy.

www.theforce.net I think I saw the pic myself too. Mine haven't the 'skirt' dealy, they stick out enough. Although it'd be simple to make them gather like that with some elastic. Hummm<rubs chin>. Mine do 'ruck up' after dueling. I have to yank them and the tabbords back down Picard Style.

Very interesting indeed! Thank you sooooooo much for taking the time to find that! That confirms something I had been making plans to do.....
I am about to embark on yet another tunic...I bought the fabric for it already...my old stand-by....Onsnaberg....the one thing I was going to do to this next (and hopefully final) tunic was to flare the bottom out.....this "flaring out" was suggested at a Jedi Costume workshop that I attended here at "Windy Con"....it helps with the movement of the fabric. I always noticed when wearing my tunics, that besides all the "poofiness" going on around the waist area ..it would "bind up and kinda cling at the hem.......
.I also plan to incorporate the darts in the back like on my previous tunic (it worked really well) and some princess darts (I think that is what they call them) in the front also. All of those darts get hidden by the tabbards.....and it helps the tunic lay much flatter and without all of that "poof" that the females of our species get around the waist ....
Thanks again!

All of my own tunics have a waist seam, except the 1st one, which I've never worn,it looks awful on me.

Saiagoh: your not psycho. My Obi drives me crazy cause Mr. Caroll didn't make a long enough piece of velcro in the back of the obi it always slips apart . I 've applied strips of velcro to keep it togeher but the velro keeps sliping apart it's a pain mentally. My mom tailored my tunic, pants, and robe she did a good job ,but the tunic is still way to baggy for my taste .I want my costume to resemble Obi Wan's not way baggy like Mace'es.

Man I really find that odd. My tunic from Carroll had like a three or four inch wide piece of velcro holding it together. Did you buy it from ebay or from his website? Hmmm. Makes me wonder...
