Not too sure which pattern...I probably this one... www.rebellegion.com/jedigarb/tunicinnertunic.html or this one www.rebellegion.com/jedigarb/rtunicpattern2.jpgI traced my karate gi last time but the whole thing came out too short and I have that opening around the hips that this set of instructions says to try to avoid. As for the gauze... Maybe it's hard to do on a sewing machine, but I haven't used one since my high school sewing class. I don't think I'd remember how. I sewed it all by hand. The crinkley texture of the fabric actually camoflages my crooked stitches! I noticed that it stuck to itself really well, and since it was so sheer, I worked with it doubled. The body of the tunic is two layers, but the sleeves are one. To manage the hems better, I turned up the edges and sealed them with a bit of fabric glue before I sewed the actual hem. This prevented it from fraying too much. But as I said I'd never sewn before so the whole thing was one big experiment, it just sort of evolved...kinda like my cooking! My next challenge is going to be figuring out how to do the lining. I'm still waiting for the fabric to arrive.

lining!....... egad....wow.... I will have to try that one from the rebellegion....I always have to make so many alterations to the patterns I have....maybe it would be a good thing to start from scratch....from my body's measurements...

Just got that gauze fabric in today! It's perfect. I'm still hunting for lining. I just might skip that part though! Thinking about getting a sewing machine.

Sewing Machine....GOOD!!! Go Fast! Little practice, and away you go! See the sewing machine threads elsewhere on here, for info or opinions.

Let me know how the gauze goes.....
rats...CONvergence is less than a month away and I have not even started my "cheater" undertunic out of the bubble gauze that I have.......
I fought buying a machine for a long time....and did my stuff by hand....
but wow....now that I have a machine....well...it is the old story....
how did I get along without one!
I still do my hems by hand though.....with really small stiches.....
My machine is a White....very simple....got it used with case for $100.00....I love it!

Ok..I think it's time. Finally got my IRS refund, so I think before I attempt this I'll need to get a machine. Less than a month Schph...You'll have to pick a weekend to do nothing but sew! Just lock yourself in a room witha sign on the door that reads..."Jedi in progress...do not disturb"!

boy....you ain't kidding..... I have been at the machine quite a bit the last week. I am almost finished with the taupe version...all I have left is the hem. I finished the taupe sash that is featured at Amber's Jedi meditation chamber last night...but I need to make the same sash for the tan and dark brown version...but now that I have fabricated the pattern, the other two should go easier....then all I have left is the undertunic....but I don't know that I will get that done.... it is only two weeks away now .... .I can still use my "cheater" undertunic.....

Schph, remember that slippery lining fabric is usually synth and doesn't breathe, but it would usually be lt wt taffeta or satin. I like to use silk lining or very lt weight cotton lining fabric.

Didn't think of the breathability factor... the current weather has just reminded me however! I guess I should hold out for silk for the lining. Either I find the right fabric or the right color... not both, it seems!
