pumpkins.goateestyle.com/movies.phpAbove leads to couple Star Wars, Gollum, an Orc, Jack Sparrow, POTC Jolly Roger, Slimer of Ghostbusters and more. Happy Carving. JMD PS By the way, my Imperial hubby carved a great stormtrooper Jack-O-Lantern using a foam pumpkin I bought him at Michael's. it's forever now!

My husband carved the POTC Jolly Roger one on one side and promised to put Sparrow on the other side--says more complicated. The Jolly Roger glows real cool (he carved it on a foam pumpkin). JMD

Not I, I haven't been able to do that in years. They are really neat though. It's takes a little time to do them that way. The other day I saw a book called "Extreme Pumpkin Carving" some very complex designs in that book.

Either we don't carve at all, or we carve to the extreme! This year since my Halloween party was cancelled... I think I'm going to carve! And... I have a champion carver in the family!
Oh, Anim8r.... where are you?!!!

JMD Wow, cool... Those foam pumpkins are a good idea, expensive though, but I guess if you want to save your work it's worth it. How are they to carve as far as texture is concerned? Is it similar to a real pumpkin?

Bill had no problem doing them. And really, depending on the size were just the same almost as the real thing. And less messier to boot. Esp. if there's sales, or like Michaels this week, with coupons in sale flyers if they're not on sale this week. Want to get one more this year for him to carve traditional scary face on pumpkin. And you can use battery operated lights to work in them. JMD

I saw them at the rag shop and they were on sale for ten bucks each. I think I might pick one up and try it out. I've started designing some patterns to carve... I'll post 'em when they're done.
I think the y key to good carving is the proper tool.... A really good knife!

Heheh... We just went pumpkin picking this afternoon... finally! We each picked one... so there can be no mistakes! The kids wanted to go to the field to pick their pumpkins... I said "but there's a pumpkin patch at Shop-Rite, in the produce section!" But they wanted the hayride and all.
