So, will we need a new forum for this movie? At least closer to when it's supposed to be released?
This quote from JJ Abrams on the BBC website gives me a good feeling about the project:
"Abrams, who co-created Lost and directed the Star Trek reboot, said he was "more grateful to George Lucas now than I was as a kid"."
I was concerned, since he was doing Star Trek that he couldn't devote the time he needs to the SW film. But it looks like he's enthusiastic about it. All I can say to him is, "Don't get thingyy!"

Oh, I was hoping someon was going to have this as a topic! I can't believe there aren't, like, hundreds of different topics and sub-topics regarding this one!
I'm excited because it's J.J. Abrams. I absolutely LOVE the man! He's another nerd god, right up there with Joss Whedon and, to a lesser degree, Tim Kring ("Heroes"). Of course, Lucas is one of the original old guard nerd gods, along with Gene Roddenberry, Isaac Asimov, Steven Speilberg, etc....
...but I digress....
Yes, it's J.J. Abrams, so I'm excited. But I'm also CAUTIOUSLY optimistic ONLY because it's Disney. I have nothing against them, honestly (in fact, I look at every single Disney-Pixar film as a Gala Event), but I don't want them to turn Star Wars into a thoroughly Kids-Only franchise. If they make it TOO cutesy, I'm going to want to throw up, much as I did at Episode I (sorry, George).
I don't know...I could be totally wrong. All we can do, I think, is wait and see (and keep our fingers crossed!)....
...May the Force be with you, Ani-Chay....

I was glad to see some expressions of big enthusiasm from JJ Abrams for the upcoming movie. It's a good start. And now they're talking about having Luke, Leia and Han. Very interesting.
'thingy' --- I forgot about this board's comically quaint censor-bot system.

I like what Abrams did with Star Trek, and how he made Alias work great all those years. I think if someone can take off where uncle George left and make the universe progress in a good direction, Abrams can. I cannot currently think of someone else better, and can't wait to see what he'll do with it.

William Shatner will be in Ep.VII as a relation of Leia Organa. My co-worker showed me the announcement on his communicator last night.

Shatner?? What would he be? The crazy cousin? I guess with J.J. Abrams directing I can't complain about the ST / SW mixing that they have going already. And when Shatner goes way over the top, he can be very entertaining.

Wow, no reactions to the trailer? Elsewhere I have viewed volumes about the lightsaber cross guard, the troopers, the X-Wings, everything but THE GIRL. I have a good feeling about her. In fact, I think she will be pretty amazing.
I wish there had been more music in the trailer. Every time I think of Williams writing more SW music, my heart seizes up with joy.
