I have been working hard for the last six months on my jedi costume and I am happy to say that I am about a week away from submitting it for approval. The last problem I am having is with my tabarts. I can not keep them straight to save my life. they keep bunching up and falling off my shoulders. What I need to know is the best way to keep them where they belong. The tabarts are plether and the outer tunic is cotton. I know someone here can help.

Snaps or velcro on the top of the shoulder. Since its pleather, it can rip easily, so be careful. At least that will keep them from falling. Not much can be done about bunching up. You just learn to keep tugging.
Unfortunately we Jedi don't have a staff of dressers following us around all the time, tugging everything into place like they do on a movie set. I think we have all moaned about it at times.

I think if I can get them to stay up the rest I can deal with.
I will try the velcro because I think snaps might rip them to easily. thank you for your help

Be careful when taking them on and off so the pleather doesn't rip

If they are lined with a cotton or other fabric try attaching the velcro just to the lining, the stiching won't show, and no worry about ripping the pleather.

That's what I did, I stitched the top of the tabards to the shoulders. Big stitches, so that when I wash it I can easily remove the tabards first.
