:)Greetings Fellow Jedi, Those who saw me at Dragon Con know I was wearing my knee brace & didn't walk a whole lot. Well we had the xrays & the time has come. Just to let you know I will be down & out for awhile. How long I have no idea. On November 11--unless something drastically changes on the date. I will be having knee replacement surgery. I know many people have had it & are doing just fine. I figure I should be up & about by after Xmas or sooner. At least then by C6 I won't have to wear the stupid knee brace on my left knee. I might even be able to walk around a bit more by then. That does not mean I'm giving up my Jedi transport to get around at conventions. I use that mainly because of my back. Arthritis can be such a pain. Many in my family have had bits & pieces of arthritis--- I think I've gotten the lion's share of it as this will not solve all of the arthritic problems I have. In the end at least I'll have 1 more repair job done on myself. When this is done I'm going to be really looking forward to putting my Jedi uniform back on & got a moven. MTFBWY

Will pray for a quick recovery and good surgery on the knee with no complications! Do what the Dr.s tell you for recovery time and it will go by faster.

Just think of it as your first step in becoming cybernetic! Jedi healing powers out to you, janqui! Be careful and take it easy! Actually this is my 3rd step as I have already had shoulder replacements in both my right & my left but whose counting? :)Thank you for all your support. I did find out I'll be in the hospital for about 3 days unless they "toss me out" the day after. When I did my left shoulder I was in for 3-4 days. When I did the right one they sent me home the next day & in this insurance environment who can say what they will do? Just to say it sadly needs to get done & then I hope I'm done with surgeries. I'm really going to buzz big time at an airport more---duh. Aaahhhh & the wonderful joys of going through rehab & learning how to walk again. Oh the fun of it. Do I listen to the doctor for all this?----oh yea will do & a ton of Force healing as well to get through this. Fortunately knee surgery is becoming very common for the most part which is sort of a relief. Along with this I'm having the same doctor who did my right shoulder do my left knee---so should prove painfully interesting.

Hope all goes well and that you're better for it.
It's not just the insurance environment.... the hospital is a dangerous place. The less time there, the less the possibility of getting an infection. The last thing you want is MRSA in a surgical wound!

The last thing you want is MRSA in a surgical wound! So very true. They have been telling me I will be in for 3 days. Colleen is also well aware of what I will have to go through as she will be helping me through it. She says hi. I do know that I will be coming back home to start rehab from home & then once I am able to do so go to the rehab place where I had my shoulders rehabed. I feel comfortable there & the therapists know me very well. If I can get on I will keep TJA updated on my progress. I want to be able to move around a lot easier. I have also fortunately lost about 30 pounds & that will also help me a great deal.

Healing to your knee! I had a friend who had his knee replaced and he feels much the better for it. But he had to lose quite a bit of weight before then before the doctor would do it -- the doctor said that his knee would just get torn up again carrying the extra weight on it. I hope the therapy is easier for the knee, than for the shoulder.

Get well quick. I hope the surgery goes well and you're up and about ASAP!
My grandma had hip replacement surgery after getting tired of hobbling around and was grateful after the surgery. After a few weeks she was walking normally.
