So I'm remaking my tabbards down the road and I'm wonderinf if they should perhaps be wider. It could be the material I use but they at some points look to narrow. At least on my shoulders. Anyone know if the films had a width they'd use or rather what do most costumers here use. I'd like to refrence that with my own.

Just took another look through my collections of images from Episodes I-III. The tabbards extend beyond the point of the shoulder in nearly every costume. Sometimes Obi-Wan's doesn't look like they do but in most they do extend over the edge of the shoulder.

Hmm so then its really about getting them to sit flush with the shoulder tuck and making the tabs based on where that is. Prolly width is neck seam to where tuck sits.

Mine are usually about 51/2 inches.but varies, partly because it depends on width of shoulders and style preference.

wider looks generally better than thinner; but too much is like not ennough.
wider also is harder to keep in proper shape.
main question is; do you really feel your previous ones where too thin?

The tabbards extend out over the shoulders, but they don't sag over them. My shoulders are narrow, so my tabbards are relatively narrow. Generally that is a little bit over the seam at the end of your shoulder on many shirts.

I remember measuring my shoulders when making my tabards, because all other methods of measurements ended up with tabards either too narrow, or wide enough to follow my shoulder at the ends (and looking bad)
From my perspective, it should come from the collar of your tunic to a bit passed where your shoulder finish.
BTW our "tutorial" on the assembly's website is... thin... on tabard's width
If you want my opinion, the ones you had before seemed OK to me. Although I have only seen pictures, sometime it can be deceiving.

Thanks. I'll keep it in mind, the material could be it cause its raw silk and sit loose or maybe because my tucvk wasn't in the right spot. I'll get it
