There have been many arguments about if anakin actually had a chance at killing obi-wan in the last few minutes of his normal non-bio mechanical self.
I want your opinion. Do you think anakin could have killed obi-wan?

IMHO , I don't know as I think they were pretty evenly matched untill he got arrogant on Mustafar and Obi-Wan told him not to try it and he did, and Obi-Wan wapped off Anakins arm & legs. ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) DianaG

yea that is true, anakin did get pretty arrogant at the end and that ultimately landed in his own demise and getting his legs whapped off ![O_o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/browraise.png)

I think he had the chance but I really think down deep Ankain like Obi Wan could not kill one another because they cared for each other too much. However, this all change after the events of Mustafaar and 19 yrs later when they met up again. For in 19 yrs Vader anger and hatred was growing and it came to a head when Vader killed obi-wan. For Vader killed Obi-wan Anakin did not.
Now this goes to my thesis that Vader was anakin subconscience while anakin subconscience was vader.

Obi-Wan was a committed Soresu master....reading the novelizations you get a sense of just how good he was when fighting Grievous and his four sabers that moved with more than human speed... I think as long as he stayed calm he could have just waited Anakin out.

This is true....as Anakin gave up his identity and he became Darth Vader but in his heart I don't think he ever let go of his true self...but in his anger at Obi wan 19 years later as Vader he killed Obi-wan with no hestitation, even tho he told Obi Wan he shouldn't of came back..... I have no doubt that Anakin wanted to kill Obi-Wan but he lacked the necessary training and discipline to do so. His anger and frustration clouded his thinking and thus hindered his ability to preform the very difficult task of killing a Jedi Master, especially one who has a clear head and a much better understanding of the Force. Anakin never stood a chance. Obi-Wan was only acting defensively and could have easily stopped the fight much sooner if he really wanted to eliminate Anakin. Obi-Wan had compassion, even at the very end, it pained him to do what he did to Anakin. A guilt he lived the rest of his life with.

^ What he said. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Seriously, Anakin made the first move in the fight to begin with. I mean Obi-Wan drew first but Anakin took the first swing. Obi-Wan was indeed patient, waiting for Anakin to make a dumb mistake. That and he did still care for Anakin. It's heartbreaking when he de-limbs Anakin and finally lets out the emotion he's been holding in for the whole duel. Leaving his best friend there to burn to death (presumeably) must have haunted Obi-Wan for years. So no, unless the Anakin part won out and he wasn't so angry to begin with, his own anger prevented him from winning the fight.
