I fuly agree, Ky-Wan should be changed to something more... less... something else. lol. No, not really. people get used to it, after some time.
When I first joined the Assembly, I too asked specifically for blade questions, and the colors as stated were guidelines, so they said at the time, and that "blueish colors" was accepted. My original lightsaber was cyan. I now have an amber color, and a yellow blade. I like the look (and originality) of yellow blades!
Mainly, as long as it is not too red (or pink) you should be OK.
As for cross-approval of a costume, its always complex - yet doable. I am no longer active in my RL base, and the standards have changed greatly on their end. I sadly cannot give more details on that end. As a general note: you're always better to keep away from black for Jedi, even if it is "tolerated" it is still not best. Same way having "minimal requirement" is ok, but not "excellent"...
Making a jedi outfit is fun, but wearing it is even better, keep up the good work!

Thanks, Ky!
Query: For the generic New Republic Jedi, is it kosher to have both the D-ring on the belt as well as a covertec clip?

I can't think of any reason why you couldn't have both for a New Republic Jedi. Were you going to have two sabers?

Hi Ani! No, I only have one. I just wanted to have the option of attaching it one way or the other. I think that dual or double-blade saber slingers are the baddest cats around, though... Thanks for the help!

I like the look of a d-ring. Its more "authentic" at least in my "old timer star wars" mind... But, honestly, as a costumer, you will want a covertec clip. The d-ring leads to lightsaber falling off too easily. And the models that aren't easy to unclip are... well, not easy to unclip and makes them unpleasant for the Jedi.
Covertec clip are awesome. I've tried other types of clips (like motorolla) and they work OK, but the way Covertec made theirs is awesome, You can draw your saber with only one hand, yet it won't unclip itself.
Now... this is just for preferences... as long as you have "something" to hold your saber, its all good, and completely acceptable.

I see now more than ever that everyone else who posted here was SO VERY KIND and Patient with me. Thank you for that.
However, this thread shames me for my stupid noobishness. *hangs head in shame*
Can someone with the ability to do so please grant this thread a merciful death and delete it in its entirety?
I'm begging here. Thank you in advance.

There is no shame in being a amateur. We all had to start somewhere. If you'd truly like it deleted, I shall do so, but you never know who else this thread may help

Almost all the members who were not costume experienced ask similar questions when they first started, there is no shame in that, as an old teacher of mine used to say, "to remain silent is to remain ignorant of the answer", a good question is always a tool towards the information that you need.

You are very wise.
I was confused by all the costuming groups and did not realize until much later that the Jedi Assembly is NOT the same organization as Rebel Legion.
That said, I am scrapping all black from my costume and reviewing the Jedi Assembly standards.
Thank you all again for your kind patience.

Thank you for sticking with us! We are all Jedi, whereas the Rebel Legion does all good-guy costumes, including Jedi. Many, many of us are members of both groups - and more

Thank you, Jedimom! Question #1: I'm confused by the color standard. What is the absolute lightest color I can have? The costume I scrapped was black with white pants and under-tunic, and I'd like to do something similar, using dark brown with whatever the lightest color I am allowed to use for pants and under-tunic. Question #2: May I use an Imperial Knight belt for my Jedi Assembly costume? Links to illustration: ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-49645532931840_2249_42998767corellianimports.com/imperial-knight-belt.htmlQuestion #3: Are there any differences (besides the color requirements) between the NEW Rebel Legion Generic Jedi and the current Jedi Assembly costume requirements such that acceptance into one group will preclude acceptance into the other with the same costume? Question #4: May I wear eyeglasses with my costume for official trooping, official photos and costume submission?

1. The only white we take is farmboy Luke. An eggshell or cream can be used as long as t can be differentiated by white.
2. Imperial Knight belt looks cool and acceptable as long as its not black
3. I am not totally familiar with the new RL code, but generally if you can get into one, you can get into the other. Witha few acceptions...(we do not accept black but the RL does)
4. I wear glasses also. Can't see a thing without them. Some people choose to take them off in photos. I normally keep mine on
