Greetings everyone!
Super excited to be joining the Jedi Assembly!
I have been a Star Wars fan since I can remember, seeing the movies dubbed in Spanish when I was growing up in Mexico! I always admired those who would dress up as the characters, but it wasn't until 3 years ago that I attended my first comic convention and REALLY saw the culture behind the costumes. I made my first Jedi outfit learning how to sew in the process. I made 3 total actually, one for me, my partner and my niece who is an even larger Star Wars fan than I am!
I made a standard Jedi outfit, just missing the food capsules because I am having a hard time finding the right type of pen caps to use to make them. I will be posting the picture "tutorial" of what I did to help future Jedi makers! I found a lot of help on-line, but as a novice seamstress, I needed information and help that I just couldn't find in one place.
We also made our own belts and pouches, which I didn't take pictures of and am now realizing I probably should have!
I am looking at upgrading and fixing some aspects of the current outfit I have now. I wanted to have it completed and prepared for Wizard (Chicago's Comic-Con) We did, and all 3 of us had an AMAZING time! We met allot of 501st and Jedi there and took a million pictures!
I am looking at creating a new Jedi outfit based on Jaina Solo's Jedi outfit, which is more fitted than the standard Jedi robe. I have no idea if that's "allowed" or not! I am also thinking of making a Witches of Dathomir based costume or a Nightsisters costume. I hope to eventually compete a clone trooper outfit, but from reading posts I understand its a pretty expensive costume...so I might go for a bounty hunter instead (My niece is a HUGE Boba/Jenga Fett fan).
I am now babbling from excitement! I realize I have HUGE goals in front of me, but am optimist that I can create something close to the "real" thing over time. My first goal is to be happy with the "authenticity" of my first Jedi outfit in time for Halloween!
