I'm not sure if I'm out of line posting this, but...
Next year I'm planning a memorial bicycle ride from here to Washington DC, then to Shanksville PA, and finally on to New York City in memory of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. I'm not sure when I'll be starting but I plan to be in New York on September 11, 2011 to pay my respects. Due to budget constraints I may start off in Virginia and got North from there.
I know a lot of Jedi Assembly members live on or near the East coast, and I was thinking maybe I could hopscotch, meeting up with different Jedi and starting up some kind of system to let my parents and friends know I'd arrived safely at my next destination, kind of leapfrogging. I wouldn't be going alone, obviously, but I'm still unsure who's going to be coming with me.
If this sounds like a crazy idea, let me know...but I figured touching bases with people I 'knew' would be safer than with perfect strangers.

seems like the right forum to me. An interesting project. Sounds like a sensible idea, if you can meetup w/ people you know at least some, or find a few that you can travel w/ as a group. I used to do some short horseback treks when I was much younger, but always w/ a well known group and we generally had to camp, because of the horses.
