Me and some of my friends are into airsoft guns -- the ones that shoot plastic BBs. Well, we were out shooting in a field by a school, we were walking home and someone saw them and called the cops cause there was a function going on at the school...and of course they were thinking Columbine.
So I got detained by the cops. The cop had his taser out and pointed at my friend until he realized they were toy guns. Problem was, one didn't have the orange tip…
But I got off lucky. The cop didn't take my guns and just gave me a big scare! I don't think I'llbe doing THAT again! LOL

lol! It's............... kinda fuunny! Isn't it? Mom? Ok, maybe not................. Are airsofts legal in your state? I don't think they are in NJ. Some wierd law says it's legal to sell the guns and legal to sell the BB's, but not legal to use them together. Very odd.....

I used to do a medieval LARP, in it we use pvc cores and pool noodle blades for our weapon. We also cover the blades with either cloth or nylons to take out the sting of impact a little. Well we were having a practice session one sunday when a cop car rolls up!
Now we had been doing this for a while now and the cops knew of our group. But this day there was a lady out walking her dog, a normal thing to do. Except that she was the one who called the cops on us!!! Apparently she thought we were using baseball bats in our fighting. Of course it was also a problem that she was across the park from us and couldn't see exactly what was going on. But oh well.
Karm, glad to see things worked out okay.

LOL.Yea, it is a little Xana...one of those embarrassing things that I HOPE teaches a lesson. We've told him and told him not to have his guns by the school!
Yes, they're legal in Ohio, but a lot of the cities have rules against them. There was an incident last fall a couple of towns away from here where a kid was sniping people on their way home from school with his airsoft...

I'm sure they are legal but taking off the orange tip isn't. That is to show its an Airsoft gun. Taking it off and it looks like the real thing. Good thing no one was hurt since cops shoot people for having cell phones or wallets in their hands when they think they're guns. lol! It's............... kinda fuunny! Isn't it? Mom? The only toy guns allowed in NYC are hot pink & neon green, or like that, our cops are trained to be a bit itchy.

There are some functions and conventions that I would never bring a blaster to, just because of the security issue.
I remember the old days when ANH first came out. Nobody thought about real-looking fake guns being a problem then. That was when you had the Logan's runners. People in Logan's run uniforms chasing people in skimpy costumes with real-looking guns in the convention hotel. Nobody thought anything about it back then.

Oh I remember the Logan's Runners....sed to have one of the toy guns too.....
I can empathize with the toy gun issue. LEAVE the COLOR tips ON! My friend is a NYC cop and killed a teen who was playing in a dark stairwell with a real looking gun by mistake. He'd been responding to a report of people with guns on the roof of an area that had had some sniping.........

I remember that incident.
True, it used to be easy to take prop guns almost anywhere. The poor film students that come in to me at the store, always have a very hard time w/ weapons.

Yeah, the mayor was having a fit, but I wondered how long it will be before someone does shoot someone with a "funny" gun.

How times do change. What was once thougt of as in offensive is now taken completely the wrong way. So sad. I'm sure your Padawan has hopefully learned his lesson. BTW how are you doing?

The Stargate SG1 and Atlantis people have Airsoft P-90's that don't have an orange tip on them. The last time I went to D*C they were explaining how easy it was to get one of those Airsoft guns and convert them to be screen accurate. I came home and got one from Amazon.com cheaply, and it came with a container of the plastic BB's, too. I wouldn't want to carry around one of those P-90's at a con in NYC in a SG USAF Garrison Uniform these days.
