Boy... not much activity here at the Midwest Order...
so... just for the sake of getting some conversation going..
What costume or prop projects are you taking on in this new year?
What Cons or activities do you plan on attending?

Carol usually posts a list of different Cons and what not...though I don't see her post for 2009... Where I find that most people do start with a saber....don't forget to make the rest of the costume......

I've been pretty busy sewing, and just finished an Ultimate X-Men version of Kitty Pryde costume. Also, i've just finished making Leia's white Senatorial dress from ANH for admittance into the Rebel Legion. All I need are the perfect boots, and I can apply. My Sia-Lan costume hit a hiccup when I realized that the lightsaber I want is EXPENSIVE, and it'll have to wait for a little bit. However, the only piece (besides the saber) I still need is a belt to go over my obi.
As for cons, I'm gearing up for my first San Diego Comic-Con! I'll also be attending Wizard World Chicago, and (hopefully) Dragon*Con. We'll see how the money situation is by Labor Day.
Also, Doc-No-Saj, you can check comicbookconventions.com for a pretty complete list of conventions all around the world.

Santa came through this past year! ;D Kinda putting things together for pictures in a couple of weeks. Just about everything is based on 'Mace Windu' garb (three sets of each in different earth tones); 'Obi-Won Kenobi' boots from TPM movie; purchased lightsaber and utility belt, also constructed personal hilt without the blade; self-made comlink and food capsules. Have plans on attending 'Comic Con' in San Diego and 'Dragon Con' in Atlanta. Locally, in the early spring is 'Comic Con' in Novi, Michigan. But . . . first priority is submitting a quality photo to 'TJA' to become an official member! ;D It would be great to be a part of the 'midwestern order'. I'm crossing my fingers . . .

Yea! It is cool! But that means no D*C for me this year, unless something changes drastically
I think I have a room reservation for D*C though, so it might be up for grabs, if I can actually find out the reservation number. BUT it is Wed.-Sat. night only... no Sunday

I have been to Dragon Con for the past 3 years..but will not be heading back there this year... TJA usually has a fairly large group there...however...2008 TJA attendance was down...a lot of that has to do with the economy... but I am sure we will have a presence there... Also... I did Motor City Comic Con last year in Novi...but also don't plan to head back to that one this year... I am saving all of my $$ for Star Wars Weekends....

I've got ConNooga coming up in February. I was going to go to San Diego Comic Con but something came up in April that just sort of stops that from happening. I've got plans to be in the Star Wars Weekend at Disney(I missed it last year but I want to do at least one more set if at all possible)--if all goes well with my legs this year. DC is set for Labor Day. I've got fabric to make I think 3 more Jedi tunics & then I'm done unless we figure out a way to get chocolate colored calcutta fabric to remake my chocolate tunic & a few new robes, just got to find the space & time to put them together.
It's been quiet around here.

I've been (very slowly) putting together my TK and X-wing costumes. I might get the TK done in time for Marcon, which is on Memorial Day weekend in Columbus. There is a growing number of people from the Ohio Garrison and Midwest Base who are also Pirates fans. They have great costumes from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. (I don't have a pirate costume.) Being named after Christopher Columbus, the city of Columbus has a replica of the Santa Maria anchored on the Scioto River. So last year during Marcon, the whole group dressed up, and went down to the Santa Maria for a photo shoot. They are planning to do another photo shoot this year. If there are any pirates fans here, you'd be in good company with these people.
