I've been thinking about how Anakin/Vader is still using his blue saber when he kills all the younglings and other Jedi in the Temple. Now of course he wouldn't have had the time to construct a new red lightsaber, but that lightsaber seems 'tainted' to me because of that.
Watching the OT and seeing Luke (unknowingly) using the same lightsaber that killed so many Jedi (including younglings) and was even used against Obi-Wan, leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
I just wish Palpatine had presented Anakin with a red lightsaber when he pledged himself to the Sith. Anakin would then clip the new lightsaber to his belt and place his old one in his tunic.
Then as Obi-Wan defeats him at Mustafar, his old blue lightsaber would fall from his tunic, and Obi-Wan would pick it up, as a reminder of the man Anakin used to be, finally presenting it to Luke in ANH.
I'd much prefer that. (Also because the blue-on-blue lightsaber duel is really hard to follow.)

I think it's quite symbolic of how far Anikan had fallen. The tool he'd built to aid in protecting people, he choose to use to do harm, later Luke choose to use to help others. Like didn't find out until Episode 5 that vader was his fathere then the peices fell into place. He also lost his hand as well as his father's sabre. Luke had to construct a new one.

Especially when they were dueling on the table...the lightsabers got switched during the fight and Obi-Wan had Anakin's briefly (& vice versa)
