I was rumaging around thelightsaber.com the other day and on the parts section there was a little mention of how Jedi carried their lightsabers. Other than the covertec clip and dee-ring, there was mentioned a leather "sling." It sparked my curiosity and the annoying little creativity goblin that rarely shuts up anyway. Especially since I can't really find nice and cheap covertec clips and the dees wouldn't look right on some sabers. Couldn't think of a way a simple sling would securely hold the saber but would a sheath? My odd, SCA mindset kicked in and came up with this: misslizz.deviantart.com/art/lightsaber-sheath-ideas-89955893 Very quiver-like, isn't it? Obviously, I need to build a mock-up to see how well it would work and the thing would have to pretty much need to be built special for whatever saber it was going to hold if the shape is odd. The actual sheath/quiver would be leather, the main body soft, the top and bottom bracings in veg-tanned (decorating area! ;D). Any tips or suggestions would be most welcome. Sorry for rambling so.

I like it. ;D
I have to do something like that for my Rahm Kota costume. He carries his hilt in a holster on his back.

Contact Jedi Ranger (member here and at the TCSS forums) he has built several holsters out of leather and nylon webbing....kinda like wearing your saber gunslinger style....looks great....planning to ask him to make me one eventually. He had pics posted at the tcss forums.

Ooh, gunslinger Jedi... I like it. And I feel like an idiot but what are the TCSS forums?
And I think I need to read more comics, I don't really know who Rahm Kota is other than a general and survivor of Order 66. Seen his pictures before (is he comic or cartoon?) and he looks pretty cool.

Ah. Duh.
Thanks a lot for the clearing up. I know the Custom Saber shop, it just didn't click.

Hey guys. Tenric mentioned this thread to me on his WCC forums, and I thought I'd look it up and see what's going on! Here are links to the lightsaber holsters I have made so far, except for the newest one. I still haven't taken pics of it yet. This is an index page; just click on the individual sections within it. www.members.shaw.ca/Jedi.Ranger/Star_Wars_Gear3.htmMy two leather holsters (1 not uploaded yet) both need a covertec knob to be mounted on the hilt, though. I have not made an actual pocket/quiver-type holster yet, as most of my hilts have protrusions of some sort, and I prefer to have my holsters be able to carry any of my lightsabers. Another source you could reference, would be the lance holsters from the TV series "Andromeda". They are more along the lines of what you are looking for, I think. Yet another idea of mine, relied on rare-earth magnets; haven't built a mock-up of this one yet.

I like the Andromeda holster idea.

It is very easy to make, as long as your hilt has fairly uniform dimensions, and is very plain. Otherwise, the hilt would be quite floppy inside the holster. It would probably prevent Luke ROTJ and Obi-Wan ANH (among others) style emitters from being used.

Those are very cool. Never seen Andromeda before but the lance holster sounds about like what I'm planning.
The one saber I own that isn't an FX fits well in the little sheath I've made so far and it's a fairly odd shape and size. Of course, I had all the measurements taken from this saber so that may have something to do with it. Still working on the fine tuning though...
I'll try to post pictures when I'm done if anyone's interested?

Groovy. But it might be a bit (few days hopefully), as I'm dreadfully slow. Or methodical, that sounds better...

Wow that's hot! I like it a lot! I did up a saber holster myself. Wanted to post it here so the ranger could check it out. I boiled Sintra and shaped it around a metal bar. The bar held the heat very well and allowed a longer shaping time before it started to stiffen up. I just sent it out to my leather crafter to have the bandoleer made. It will be painted in brown/black weathered and attached to the bando at those two screw holes. ~ Koda
