Please could we have a section solely for the discussion of light saber electronics? I know that if you sift through props section there is some information. But it would be nice to have an area where tech gurus could help people out and people could discuss effective methods of SFX replication.

For those who have the ability to make their own hilts, Lightech, www.lightechindustries.com has a "kit" which has all the internal electronics that you can incorporate into your own hilt. It also includes a blade with your choice of color. Lightech does really good work and are a real pleasure to do business with. I would reccomend (speaking from experience) that you get the "adapter" as well. This provides a very stable way of holding the blade in place and for me at least, eliminated a lot of hassles. Be sure that you specify that you want the "good" switch with the kit, believe me, it's worth it.

Hmmmm. Found this thread while digging and would like to second the motion. I think a sub-section for electronics would be great. There is even enough already posted to just move into the section to get it started.

I think we have enough sections, it already takes a good 7 or 8 mouse scrolls to get down to the bottom of the page. Any question about electronics can be posted in the Hilt or Blade forum, it wont get ignored...

Well we can consider this thread "the electronics section" Tenric, I remember you had a good discussion going about that a while back...
Perhaps it will help if I make it sticky.

I would also like if we have an electronics section. I mean, a single thread WILL NOT cover every aspects of putting electronics in a saber, from battery types, power consumption, EL vs LED, drivers, gimmigs, recharge ports to simply adding a flashing light to any hilt.
Its all as you want, I am not admin here, but it would make the life of everyone trying to put electronics in their blade a lot easier if there would actually be a place for that content, instead of having to go to anyother forums out there... after all, we're the place for jedi, and the lightsaber is the weapon of choice of the jedi.

The props fora are currently:
Jedi Props Lightsaber Hilts Lightsaber Blades Jedi Belts and Pouches Other Jedi Props General Lightsaber/Prop Discussion
I think it would make sense for there to be a separate section for "Lightsaber and Prop Electonics". It's fairly different from the general prop-making. Right now, electronics could go under Hilts, Blades or General. And one could always branch out into lighting holocrons, which could go under Other or General.

Yes it was the second thread that I was thinking of. I'll propose the idea to the rest of the council to see what they think about creating a seperate forum. I'd say that for now, keep the electronics threads sorted by category... like if it refers to blades put it in Blades, hilt wiring, in "Hilts", etc... And if we do create a forum, I can move them all to one place.

I will be OK with whatever the council decides, but really believe we should have an electronics section where electro-knowledgeable could read and help other jedis.

Alright guys... here it is... We'll try it out. If you find an electronics thread someplace that I've missed, pm me the link and I'll move it here.
