Well, I finally got it completed. It was a bit of a last minute rush, as the information about the entry dates was incorrect (thought I had a month left to do the canvas, not 2 days...) but I used my Jedi Mind Trick and they allowed me to submit it today as their information had been incorrect. Sorry about the poor quality pic, but here's the final piece... Behold!

WOW!! Looks amazing Tanzan!! I love it! ;D Are the saber blades painted as well? It almost looks like you used reflective tape. And did you go with the zip ties? Once again very well done!

Thank you, Master Zion Yes, the blades are painted, but where the landscape was done with acrylic paint and brushes to get the textures, and the blades were done with blue and white spray paint (and the cores touched up with more white acrylic) The glow of the blades (not the blue glow) is just a combination of sunlight and lensflare. In the end, I went with the zip ties going through to some dowelling nailed to the canvas frame which I sprayed to blend in with the body of the sabers, and should I need to, they are completely removeable and undamaged by the mounting process All I need to do now is keep my fingers crossed that it gets through the selection process to be exhibited in the main competition

A little dissapointing news today was that my piece was not selected to go into the main exhibition/competition. I'm naturally dissapointed because of not only the time I put into making the piece (both sabers and canvas) but also the sacrifices I had to make (like sensible meals) because I had to spend all my money on rushing to finish it as they'd published the wrong dates, and I didn't have the rest of the month to do it as I'd anticipated. Never mind though, I understand how subjective art is, so I'm not offended that it wasn't selected. However, this leaves me with a quandry. What to do with the piece? I don't want it and have no where to store it. I am planning on offering it at a local gallery and on eBay, but I wanted to give people here 'first refusal'. I am prepared to negotiate and reasonable offers, and will get better quality pictures of it as soon as I can. I will not sell the sabers individually untill I have had total refusals on the entire piece. If anyone is interested, please let me know

Yeah, it was just one of those things really, I thought I had a month to do the canvas, not the few days they allowed, but never mind Hopefully I can find it a good home It wouldn't bother me if someone was to buy it just for the sabers, I just don't want to split it up myself ;D
