I was on some other website, and somebody suggested that someone should make a website on dualing.
Now I like making websites. Making one on dualing would be cool. What's your guys' input? What would the site consist of? Dumb idea, or good idea?

First thing to do when coming up with a web site.......do a google to see if there already is one. It may have everything you want. If there isn't anything that fits your interest, go for it. Just don't forget to, ahem, cover your backside with disclaimers about not tryiing this a home. ;D

The only problem I have is structure and such. I can do it in person, but on a site is harder.

Tutorials would be interesting. The thing that sucks is that we don't actually have the force (sorry to break it to some of you guys.)
I think it would be cool to have a page on all the different blades ie PVC, EL, Wood, etc.

You would have to include ALOT of movies/pictures to adequetly teach duelling techniques - that means lots of bandwidth and an expensive site. Plus it would have to be made by a legitimate martial arts practitioner, or else it would probably cop alot of flak.

You're right. I'd say this website is a no go for me. Maybe just a, "Hey i'm a Star Wars nerd check out my sabers and whatnot" kinda website may be in the future...

Hey, I really didnt mean to discourage you. Maybe make that kind of site, but dedicate a section to describing how you duel and attempting to teach it with just text and a few pics, its not impossible! I'm far too negative these days I think

No you didn't discourage me, you were just being realistic. And if you're negative, we should hang out more.

it is i kewdoss the general base idea for the website was to give people the opportunity to duel other people through which hopefully some realistic techniques would be born and hopefully then a real lightsaber which many people have come close to believe it or not

I think a site that deals with duelling techniques is a good idea as it could show the basic moves and techniques. However, the only way to actually learn how to fight with a sword is to actually do it with a partner. It's one thing to learn how to hold a sword, and where to hold it for blocks, but the timing and ability to anticipate moves is impossible to learn without actually training with another person. Good luck with the site

Just trying to clear something up, you mean DUELING, right? As in sparring? As opposed to DUALING being the general usage of two lightsabres.

I'm not sure how a dueling site would work other than video tutorials.
Personally, I take fencing lessons and have done stick fighting for...well, forever.

Speaking from experience, as a fencer and taking years of kendo, it'll be hard to learn how to sword fight, dualling, or sparring from reading a web site. Video tutoral may not work either. It would be much easier to learn from a master of the arts than web site tutoral. Sorry man.
