makes me think the first shot migh have been a prototype? Maybe they made the rest of it golden so it would show up more against the dark backgrounds they put in.

ha i just remembered i posted this topic. Thanks for all the screen caps guys, i took some myself, but ur brighter ones work well.
Yes there was a toy, it came with a jedi role play kit. Basically the ear piece and long mic section look spot of for accuracy, but i would ahve to make the metal bands myself. My friend actually has the toy, not me, and we asked another friend who wanted one, if he could mold it and produce some. But he said the silicone to make the molds is $$$.
The closest thing i have really found so far is using a regular xbox headset earpiece, but it needs some work still. The probelm too is that there arent alot of headsets around like there was a few years back. Everythings tiny in the ear stuff. I bought some metal to cut for the headbands, ill just use my dremel tool.
And yes, the prop shot is black because they were like that for Ep2. But painted all gold for ep 3.

I took some caps from AOTC anyway- One thing I managed to get is a couple of OK shots that show the top band-- I guess you could try searching for a phone headset on Ebay with 2002 as part of the listing parameters. It will probably bring hundreds (maybe thousands) of hits. You then have to just search for the right model. Hope this helps.

If anyone finds the "right" model, please post about it.

well i did it everyone, check the picture below and go back and forth a bit to see some other shots of my finished headset. images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=776509i used a plantronics headset from com usa for the ear piece, since it had the proper joint for the ear section. The metal bands i cut from aluminum and added thin black sticky foam padding to them. I use the inside of a womens thin headband for the top band, and also added the foam. The hidges i fabricated from some black plastic mounting board i got from my art department at work. The only thing i didnt make was the mouth section, whcih was from the toy version and is spot on accurate. The mouth pieace that comes with teh plantronics headset can work just as well with a few mods. This was a comfrtable piece to wear and got some great response from fellow fans, and Steve Sansweet too. After seeing mine work so well, many have now expressed interest for one as well, but sorry im not making them

i just added a post to the tool thread over at the randomsabers forum. The headband he made is pretty decent , but accuracy and detail wise is off on a few key parts.
