I'll get a picture(s) of the four sets I've made as soon as I can.

[glow=red,2,300]Syn-Kai...[/glow] This is a little off subject, but I noticed that you have your photos on Fotki... are they a good site? I have a bunch of photos but no site to upload them to. Did you pay the membership fee? Maybe I should get a membership... it's probably easier than trying to manage my own website... I'm surprised I even know how to get online sometimes... Geo

I just finished a set of macrobinoculars, made from the spy camera toy that several people seem to have used. I still plan on making the larger set from the sub assault game, but I wanted a smaller pair as well. I disassembled everything, then sanded it all with 400 grit paper. I gave it two coats of primer, then two coats of pewter metallic, then two coats of a flat camo/tan color. I used the steel wool method of weathering and gave the whole thing a coat of matte finish. I changed the neck strap from the gray one it came with to a black one, then reassembled it all with glue and screws. I installed the AAA batteries and crossed my fingers as I switched the light on. Everything works perfectly and it looks fantastic.

I love those binoculars, Primrodo... I always love seeing props made from the most unlikely of objects... Similarly here's a pair I made semi-based on Luke's Macrobinoculars from A New Hope (whilest spying on the Sandpeople)...the original prop is thought to be an Omegamax two-lense camera, turned on its side... mine's made of a collection of junk: a scrap of 2x4, some cardstock, PVC sheet, a milk lid, some soda caps, some washers and screws...plus a large clear red push-button from the scrap bin at work... ~Kai Rhann

Yes, that's the one; Toys R Us has them too. Seems like a lot of people use it as a base to alter, but it has a lot going for it. It actually works as a pair of binoculars (to a small degree) and it has a working light that gives it that nightvision feature. The price is great, too.

That's even better if they're on clearance. They're not that hard to take apart and put back together, if you do that to paint them. It was especially easier to paint the two orange buttons and the niche where the extendable light sits when it was all apart. At some point I want to make a leather carrier for them on my belt.
