I was gonna try and turn it into a walkie talkie by disecting a kids one, but I still can't figure out the "shell". Any advice or links would be greatly appreciated.

I assume you are trying to make a real one? That works? I don't know-- I can splice a few wires together, but I'm not THAT much of a techie. If I find anything, Ill let ya know!

I assume you are trying to make a real one? That works? Well, yes and no. I think I can figure out how to make it work by chopping up a kid's walkie-talkie. But I need help on the non-technical part. I'm not a great artist, and I'm having trouble making it look like a comlink instead of a piece of junk.

Well, you could try a couple of things. First, the non-functional route, but with a more movie-accurate look. The Episode I Jedi Comlinks are Epilady shavers for women. Or, you could go for a bigger bodied Comlink, and use the Episode I Commtech reader toy from Hasbro. The body of it is plenty large enough to house the electronics for a walkie-talkie, and it looks exactly like the Jedi Comlink, but just bigger.

If you don't mind them being all big and clunky with a large antenna, there are EpI Comlink Walkie talkies that work. They are just all big and clunky.

Really! Where?! Where?! If it works, I don't care how big/clunky it is.

Um...... Hasbro made them when TPM came out. I managed to pick up two sets and opened one. I have no idea where you would find one now. Try searching the net, I guess. Or maybe Nick can help! He's like the toy expert here. He knows where to find stuff.;D Local toy shows are good for this kind of stuff too.

The toy walkie talkies, huh? This one might be even beyond my capabilities. I'd try looking on eBay. Although I'm not a big fan of eBay, you might be able to find the walkie-talkies cheap there. Another thing I'd consider are close-out type stores. These are stores that get older merchandise pretty cheap. They go by names like "Amazing Savings", "Peddler's Mart"....places like that. Here's a page you might consider. They don't appear to have the item you're looking for, but you might want to keep an eye out here: www.brianstoys.com/acatalog/Brians_Toys_Accessories_127.html. I'm not a big fan of this site. I think they're overpriced, so pay that in mind when you visit them.

I just ran across this thread today....I am still trying to make my way through all the older threads... Anyway...did they have the walkie-talkies in stock? If they did...great.... if they didn't, I happen to have a set that you can have free...I bought them, played around with them at work and now they are just sitting and collecting dust... let me know if you would want them.

I decided to use the headset from the EpII Jedi box that I got, it's the ont that ObiWan wears with the band across his forhead. It's not a working thing, just a toy, but if no ones going to answer me, than that doesn't matter at all.

Want them... yeah, if you still got 'em I'd LOVE them! I didn't get any yet, 'cause I can't talk Mom into buying things over the internet. I'll e-mail you with my address next time I'm on, ok? (I already checked with Mom, and she won't mind.)
