Did a redesign and I think it is ready. Went from Velcro to snaps out of necessity, no sewing machine. The snaps actually work quite well. Close UpsDave

Looks good. I like the idea of snaps, though might prefer the keeper at the back to cover them all.

I thought about that, but couldn't do it for 2 reasons: 1 - accurate keeper size is the same width as the main belt, in this case 2.25". That is the accuracy nut in me talking of course 2 - The snaps will be, most likely, covered by a pouch anyways, so they will, in theory, be covered Dave

You know, an idea that may work, if you think it would not add too much bulk would be to have a second peice of leather with the snaps on it and then have one end attached to the end that gets covered and then maybe across the middle to be hidden by the accent belt?
That way you would get the best of both worlds!
Looking great though Dave! The leather looks real nice as well!

I've been using the snap idea for years and it works very well. Can be easier and quicker at times to assemble a belt. Unless you're like me, and keep bending those blasted rivits.

I don't bend the rivets, since all but the snaps are screw backs. What I keep doing is blasting my knuckles with the mallet while setting those darn snaps, the bruises..... Dave

The belt looks nice! Glad to see you back.
One thing I found out for a Jedi belt......don't put a pouch on the back. It covers things up, but it makes it hare to sit back in a chair. Those pouches can really jab you in the back. If I wear a pouch on the back of my belt again, it will be removable.

You are right; they do stab in the back. I typically drive 2+ hours to troops... in costume (they always seem to be morning things with no time/place to change) so I just roll up a towel and put in the car seat like a little pillow to make driving more comfortable. Done it w/o the towel, too, and got a nice backache.... I feel very certainly Anakin and Obi-Wan were NOT wearing the pouches when filming the starfighter scenes. Ouch! Yes, yes, any pouches on the back should definitely be removable, and to me, snaps are easier for getting the pouch on/off while the belt is in place... w/o having to slide the belt around to the front. But I know other people like clips better.

I agree with both of you about the pouches, but there are 2 other solutions to consider:
1 - a soft, thin leather pouch would be easy on the back and can be made so the straps have a snap at one end for easy removal, so that is a good thought
2 - being the real pouches were resin and solid, they actually had a hard metal clip on them that would just slide over the top of the belt, kind of like the Covertec clips, so again easy removal when needed but when talking about the snaps it isn't feasable
I suppose the clip could be used on leather pouches.......hmmmmm

I have clips on a couple of my pouches, which are fully-functional ribbed style in a heavy leather and based on the resin movie props. I'm a girl, so I have to stash lots of stuff in my pouches, like lipstick. It kills me not to carry a purse...But I digress... I like to tape the clip to the inside of the belt, just like Mon-Jas showed us with the food capsules. Otherwise it gets bumped around and all of a sudden it's crooked and untidy. (I know, it's worse with the food capsules.... at least the pouch has some weight to it.) One other thing to think about with a clip... if you clip it in the back over the part where the belt fastens and overlaps, remember the clip only goes over ONE layer of belting and not TWO. So you have to figure out how to thread the clip between the layers, which isn't easy, especially with the "bump out"at the bottom and especially if the belt closes with velcro, as mine does. That's one reason I said I liked the snap better for ease of attaching or removing... already had that tug of war. But a clip will likely fit more tightly on different sizes/widths of belts. Just some different stuff to consider.
