those of you who frequent every aspect of the board may have noticed I'm giving my costume a complete overhaul everything just seemed to be falling into place to make a more accurate costume than what I had, so I've just been running with it. as a result of this overhaul I come bearing the fruits of my labor - a semi-accurate jedi belt. all parts are remarkably bought at wal-mart. Horray for corporate elitism! slight bit of tutorial/description: the "leather" is the white fuzz backed vinyl and that's ALL of the leatheresque peices. the studs are pushpins for pegboards - some spare ones I had from a pegboard I don't own anymore. I used a pair of pliers to twist the metal pins out of the plastic top, spraypainted them and then added a small screw to each. the buckle is a black one for 97c at the craft department that I spraypainted silver. it's going to be attached in the back with sticky backed industrial strength velcro, also in the craft section. I'm also going to make pouches from these $1.47 bait pouches from the sporting goods section, bit I haven't done that. I'll try to remember to take pics as I go so as to make a tutorial. Hope i've inspired someone out there on how they can do a semi accurate belt. I only say semi accurate because the peices aren't authentic but the look is the same. MTFBWY

remarkable job...considering the parts you started with. I would still say that there's no substitute for real leather....just curious...how much did you spend on the belt ?

well sans the pouches...
3.77 for 1 yard vinyl and I didn't even use all of it 0.97 for belt buckle 1.00 ? for pins (had them on hand so no idea) 1.00 for silver spraypaint 4.00? for velcro when I go get it 1.00? for small screws? ______ sewing abilities given by deceased mother - priceless roughly $11.74 or less if you have these common things on hand. since I had spraypaint, screws, and pins, I'll spend roughly $8.74. depends on the price of velcro

okay, velcro was only 3 so 10.74 and 7.74 - not bad for a jedi belt, even by watto's money pinching standards
