okay, got a question, where on your waist do you put your obi and jedi belt? your low waist? navel height? somewhere above that? I'm trying to get an idea of where I should measure for my belt that I just finished making. also how do yours secure in the back? velcro, buckle, etc? thanks a million and MTFBWY

OK, I may not qualify to answer b/c I'm not a guy, but here goes anyway...
Put the belt and obi at the smallest part of your waist, even if you would rather make yourself look longer-waisted or shorter-waisted. Once you hang your saber, if your belt is not cinched up reasonably tight, the back and other side of the belt (unless you have heavy or loaded pouches) are going to crawl out of place, and it can get REALLY uncomfortable.
Been there, done that....

You are welcome! Maybe some others will have some good tips.
I tried to "fix" my short-waistedness on my Halloween Jedi and the edge of the belt kept stabbing me in the underside of the ribcage on the side opposite my saber -- it kept crawling upward b/c it was too loose. Just wearing the costume is fine and you think you can get away with it.... not when you hang a metal saber with electronics inside.
Now I know why some people make what they call "belt hangers" -- lighter weight sabers for walking around.
Anyway, hope that helps. Just got my home computer fixed and I can "connect" at home for the first time since December!?! Yippee!!

You definately want the obi across your natural waist and not sitting on your hips. Obi's naturally are to sit right across the stomach area, and though it will feel odd initially thats where you want it I have always found that velcro is the best bet for the belt too, accurate, the most adjustable and easiest to put on and take off.

And towards the end of the day, you'll find that the belt slowly but surely slips down towards your hips.

Right. There's more than one photo of Qui-Gon (Liam) with the belt hanging crooked.
