I'm sure that most of you use some sort of sewing meathod to construct your belts. I'm sure that sewing is the best way of making a belt. HOWEVER there has to be SOMEONE out there who has used leather glue. You see I would sew my belt together but halloweeen is just over a week a way and if my seconday belt arrives I need a super quick way to assemble my belt. I was looking for some pointers on this substance. Everything from what brands to use to how to use the stuff proficiently. Thanks in advance!

I don't know why you think we stitch our belts, when we don't.
We usually buy pre-cut leather straps, either pre-dyed, or dye them ourselves, and put them together using rivets.
I guess you haven't seen Jedi Kai's tutorial that has pics of the process. Check out the tutorials listed at the top of this forum.
Some of us have used glue under the rivets, to make sure that the smaller belt holds. I now use more rivets on my smaller belts, because I want the small belt to be load-bearing, since I put my Covertec clip for my lightsaber on the smaller belt.
If you just want to know about leather glue then here is a good glue:
www.tandyleather.com/prodinfo.asp?number=2201500&variation=&aitem=1&mitem=3 It's from Tandy Leather. If you use glue, make sure to sand off the finish from the belts where the glue will be applied, first.
I would strongly suggest that you look at the tutorials here to get an idea of how people assemble their belts.

D'oh! Missed that tutorial! All that time I thought I had reviewed them all. Thanks for the suggestion! Now, off to that tutorial...

I have used leather glue. I have had to re-glue a couple of different times just because it didn't hold up to the rigors of C3.

Actually I do sew my belt in some places... I have a small hole punched behind the buckle where there is one stitch that prevents the buckle from sagging. I've found that no matter how tight you fit the small belt over the larger one, the leather tends to stretch over time, and the smaller belt becomes less taught. I also have the velcro stitched on.

I riveted my velcro in place, and riveted most of the things I could. I didn't try sewing the leather.
There are always alternatives to stitching... ;-)

My Saberbelt belt had the velcro sewn into it, but my Obi Wan belt was too thick to sew into, so I just punched holes and used rivets to secure it. Personally I never trust glue, its unsettling

D'oh! I actually modified my post with that direct link, Kai, but I think I just previewed it and forgot to post it and then just went to a new page.
Oops.

Personally I think glue is meant to reinforce, like it is in carpentry. I've never had a glue perform as advertised. But I have not tried them all...

I agree with that, Leda. I would never trust just glue.
Especially since I have my Covertec clip on my small belt. I have extra rivets on my latest belt to reinforce that belt. I'd hate to have it slip off the rivet studs and lose my clip while my saber was on it!
