anyone have a clue how to clean my jedi belts? They were soaked with water and had some mold spots. So far, i've soaked them in algicide, degergent and water. I Dried them in the sun.....still look shabby....still smell bad. Any suggestions?

why don't you simply use it as-is... that's the best weathering you can get.

Algicide? Shouldn't it be fungicide for the mold? Algae and mold just aren't the same animal and what kills one might not get the other.
Well, weathering would look good, but if the belt and pouches smell.....that's a problem. have you considered putting them in an oven at 150 deg for an hour or so to really dry them out? This will dry out the leather, but may help with the smell....or just make your kitchen smell bad. You'll want to put some saddle soap or other leather oil on them afterward to keep them from getting brittle; just keep water away from them. Moisture is your enemy; the mold can't go anywhere without it.
If you had some mold, they'll never look new again. But perhaps you could ask at a shoe repair place and find out what they do to refurbish shoes in a similar situation? This a Katrina flood? I thought you were up in Jackson?

Sounds like you're back home. Hope your costumes came through, as well as other props and general belongings. What a mess! I have been thinking about you and wondering how it's going since you last posted that you and yours were out safely but left everything behind but a very few treasures.

don't know whether you have power or the ability to search internet, so I did and this is what I found:
MILDEW Steps: 1. Mix 1 cup (8 fl oz/250 ml) rubbing alcohol with 1 cup (8 fl oz/250 ml) water. 2. Moisten a cloth with the mixture and wipe the affected area. Leave to dry.
WATER Steps: 1. Allow a soaked leather garment to dry slowly and naturally. 2. Keep the item away from heat sources, and restore its softness with a leather conditioner after it's dry. 3. For soaked leather shoes, insert shoe trees and let air-dry.
