My understanding is that Dave is out of business Loreen I know exactly where I've been. I'm sure Lucas got his buckles from Dave too since he's the only one in the universe - I'm not friends with everyone like you are so I may be more stupid than you. I am asking an honest question... There must be other people who got buckles from other sources. So what are they?

I just meant that since you've been on these boards for a while, I guess I figured that you had probably seen something about the buckles Dave carried at his site before he went out of business, that's all.
But maybe if you weren't thinking of making a belt like that right then, you may not have been interested.

Hey lets relax a little! Its not very Jedi like to fight!
The best place to look for interesting belt buckles is on womens shoes - this is one placed rumoured to be the source of Obi Wan's buckle - but that doesnt matter because alot of shoes have really interesting designed buckles anyway. I personally don't like the look of those strapworks buckles so this might be an alternative for you.
Head to a thrift or second hand store and have a look around. Also look at belts and bags/purses, you can find some great stuff.

Hey lets relax a little! Its not very Jedi like to fight! You are correct. I apologize to you Loreen. Since I seem to want to fight a little too much maybe I shouldn't be a Jedi. Thanks for your buckle recommendations, I'll look into them if I decide to keep doing this.

Relax, Jim, it's ok. You are among friends here. I've met you twice, so I consider you a friend.
You are a nice person and have a great costume.
You are an asset to the Jedi Order.

Dont think of your aggression as a reason to quit being a Jedi - think of being a Jedi as a reason to let go of your aggression. Besides I've seen your posts - and you are hardly an aggressive person. We all have bad days, just meditate a little!

Loreen, I know you'er trying to help but folks can misunderstand your tone. Sometimes it can come off wrongly, which can and does happen with the advent of the internet. Noone can see or hear you, so most of the time misunderstandings happen. Thank to al who cooled this down. Trying to find an item through all these dozens and dozens of threads takes a LONG time. So I understand why some will ask a question in one place that has already been answered elsewhere, and it's NOT a problem. To find Obi Wan's buckle IS going to be tricky. The prop guys found it off a purse or shoes. You could try Thrift stores, Salvation army, Resale shops and consignment stores. I think someone here can cast them from resin but I'm unsure. try Jo-Ann's, "H a n d c o c k Fabrics" it's a sure bet. It won't be Obi's buckle but you'll find something clsoe. Tandy leather factory's site. This place has Anikan buckles www.cdwplus.com/singleMSRB.html(I hope the link works.) Mynn, I just fixed the link for ya!

Well the Obi-Wan belt buckle is still a mystery... lots of speculation as to where it originally came from but none confirmed, at least as far as I've seen. So where does everyone get all their cool belt buckles? There are a few standard sources, like the ones we can learn about from reading these threads, but I'm sure there are countless other ways that people aquire their buckles... some with interesting stories behind them, like flea market finds... old snow boots... my grandmother's coat... etc. I think pleasant conversation was the point of Lazlo's thread, as well as information. After all, that's part of what makes the Jedi Assembly message boards so much fun!

I found my buckle at a little hole-in-the-wall store in New York City, on 39th street. It's literally the size of a walk-in closet! First I had one of these hook things from home depot... Then I found something better---- But I'm still looking for that elusive Obi-Wan... the buckle, I mean........

I'd like to find something similar to Obi Wan's buckle too, it has a nice simplicity to it that fits me. Leda, maybe we'll find some neat potential buckles at D*C.

Cut 'em off an old pair of shoes. I am my own character. I don't need an accurate Obi-Wan. I love my belt the way it is

I'm just obsessed with finding an exact Obi-Wan buckle, but I want to find one... not make one. I'm always impressed with what can be done with found objects. Just like Lukes lightsaber... a flashgun! That's ingenuity. Mon-Jas your buckle looks really good... I saw many belts at CIII with that one and I wondered if you were the one that made them! But wanna know how obsessed I am? I recently bought a wrist watch at JCPenny because it resembled an Obi-Wan buckle. Cor-Al... do you know the one I'm talking about? It's made by Bongo and comes with 3 interchangeable bands.
