Qui-Gons Belt

does anyone have a good picture of Qui-Gons belt buckle? I cannot find one anywhere.

I've seen this question before and never satifactorially answered. There is ONE place on the DVD of TPM where you get a really good look at Qui-Gon's belt buckle. Whe Anakin gives him some pallies (whatever those are) from the old lady's stall on Tatooine and Qui-Gon lifts his poncho to stuff them in his obi (thus letting Anakin see his lightsaber, and supporting my theory that Jedi have hidden pockets because thos pallies just aren't just going to stay in his obi as Qui-Gon walks around without something to keep them in place) you get one clear look at the buckle.

I don't recall seeing a buckle like that anywhere, but I haven't really looked for one. It's silver, with a vertical center piece and two square links on either side that are attached to the belt. You have to be skillful with the freeze frame, but it's not too hard with a little practice; try slow first and you'll see what you're looking for.

I always thought Qui-Gon's buckle looked like Obi-Wan's. Look at the frame where he's just rescued the Queen on Naboo and does a force-push of some battle-droids.

You think it's different?

And I've been thinking about pockets. I just added one to the inside of my obi this weekend! I was thinking about just this scene. That's a good capture of the frame.

I always thought they were similar, but never thought they were exactly the same. Thanks to Ani-Chay Pinn for reminding me of the scene and finally getting the pic ;D

I would so like to find the real life buckles from Obi and Qui - it would make life so much easier

Similar in style but not the same no. I guess they wanted them to be much alike as possible

As for pockets in the Obi...I doubt that costume wise, I've stuffed a few things there before and have had no troubles anyway.

You found a buckle like Qui-Gon's? At which store? I haven't reallly looked at Obi-Wan's buckle, though I'm not surprised that it's similar to Qui-Gon's. Obi-Wan, conformist that he is, was just emulating his master.

You can sort of guess how the buckle works; the hook for it is probably the center piece, or attached to it somehow. I've never seen that particular buckle, but ones like it seem to come and go with different styles at fabric and craft stores -- not something you can always find.

And I've never been able to keep something just tucked into any piece of clothing; things always get out, usually at the worst possible time and in a crowd. I sewed a pocket into one of my obis, though I'm not sure I will for the others. There's not much room and I put pockets in other places.

The pocket in my Obi is just for a credit card and folded money. I'm thinking "money belt" for CIII. I've also tucked my cell phone inside my tunic under the obi but nearly lost it.

I love that idea! It looks great!

My friends have had that problem as well with there resin pouches. So they asked if I could make them out of leather to add more space for there stuff and I did. Now they can stuff there wallets and props and not have to worry about them.
