The problem I have with accurate belts is that they are way too wide. I am short waisted, as I am sure a lot of other female Jedi here are. They pinch and hurt, especially if I have to lean over or am sparring. Yet if we go to a narrower belt, then we don't have room for the rivets and the smaller leather strip belt over teh woder one. What shall we do?

How narrow are you thinking? I made belts for my sons, (9, 7, & 5) that are 2 inches with the small belt of ½ inch. I could do a 1 3/4 inch belt with a with a ½ belt, it would work.

The ones I tried at the men's dept. were about 1 1/2 inch I figured. Normal men's dress belts that I figured we could alter as to teh instruction posted here. I just wasn't sure if there would be room for tyhe rivets and such

1.5" is pretty small - the smallest belt waist wise that I have made was a female Imperial Belt and that was 1.75".
How small of a waist do you have? I know that I did a belt for blueroommate and she is a tiny young lady - we did a 2" main belt with a 1/2" accent belt. If you want I can get her to bring the belt over and I can take pics for you
I wouldn't worry about the rivets fitting - there are so many different things you can do for the accent belt - if you want traditional I usually put the rivets 5/8" apart from each other - maybe that will help you out for sizing
Let me know if I can help out any more

Cor-al... how about curving the belt so that it sits better on the hips? My belt is 3 inches wide, but if you studied it you would see that it is shaped like a section of a cone... wider around the bottom than at the top. I made it out of a womens hip belt, and it is meant to sit easy on the curves, not straight, like a man's.

I like that idea. Where did you get a hip belt at?

that is a very good idea actually - you can use Leia's ANH belt as a base to design from Dave

Great job.:-) That is not mine actually - I believe the top pic came from OJA and the bottom pic is from MOM - I saved those down while researching the belt for a friend and posted those here for quick refference - I may be trying it in the near future though...... Hmmm. I've very short. I'd read that the belts in the films were 2.5 inches so I made mine 2 inches wide and that has worked for me. Maybe I'm just short but not short-waisted?

I like that idea. Where did you get a hip belt at? I ordered the belt from the Victoria's Secret catalog, I guess it's been almost two years ago now. The belt I'm wearing in my avatar is that same one, before I modified it, that is turned it into a Jedi belt. But shop around in stores for juniors... like Joyce Leslie or Dress Barn, or Mandees... not sure what chains are out by you... or even Walmart or Target. Some of the belts you'll notice when you lay them out flat are curved.... that's what you want. Just look for one that's the width you want. It may take hunting, or you might get lucky... you know how that goes!

I know I said I would get pics up of the belt for you and I finally got a few minutes to do that: www.saberbelt.com/MAProject.htmlQuick details - 2" main belt, 1/2" accent belt, brass rivets, smaller pouches (the smallest 2 I make), score lines to break it up and add some class, and color to try and match boots All in all I like how it came out - nice and sturdy yet feminine enough to look "different" compared to traditional Jedi belts Dave

Thank You - that small buckle on the front cinched it for me. Blue only gave me one requirement - it had to be pretty.
I actually stumbled onto that buckle and thought it would work well - once we got that in, we played with aging the buckle a bit, and then put the 1/2" accent belt through it - we knew right away it was a winner.
The design actually has the accent belt tuck under the main belt - so where you see the openings on the buckle for the accent belt you actually do not see the hole cut into the main belt. Basically we went through the hole and then put a rivet hidden behind the accent belt - this way there was no need for a belt keeper and it helped with the feminine look
In all the belts I have made - it is this type of custom belt that I always remember. Mainly because it is so much fun bringing a vision together and seeing someone happy in the end
