Well for me I have bought all of my stuff from TCSS. Although I have not gotten an graflex conversion kit yet (should be here tomorrow from TCSS) for my ep3 ani. I have gotten an Vader MR LED conversion kit and an Mace windu led conversion kit. I am more one sided to TCSS. The stuff Tim sells is excelent in quality and ease to use. To me from looking at the graflex shop the blade holder does not seem to come with everything needed to convert your gralfex to led or el. BTW what are you going to put in for electronics, EL or LED?

BTW what are you going to put in for electronics, EL or LED? That's a good question. What are the advantages of each type?

well i'm kind of biased to led and I'm sure olos nay will be better at this but I will give it a shot. First off it depends on what you will use your saber for. Dueling, costuming or just to have it. For dueling LED is the best way to go becouse if you brake your blade (which is real hard to do) you do not damage your electronics since they are in the hilt. You will have a removable blade just like EL, depending on if you use a setup like Parks sabers which are all EL. EL=electrolumenecent wire. which means there are several strands of lighted wire that run up and down the blade. Can be very bright but also very heavy, since all most of the weight is in the blade. For dueling El is really not the way to go since a wire could break and then you have to replace the whole wire or blade. Depending how the blade is made you will probably have a ratteling sound of the wires in the blade. I know I am kind of biased to led but I think it is the best way to go. also If you want to change colors you just change out the led and not the whole blade. Any other questions, ask away. there are alot of people that can help you here. here is what tim's kit looks like for the MR conversion. with blade attached and no flash. no blade and hilt on.

Hi,
I have placed an order with the graflex shop (should arrive next week) I have bought the whole blade kit (LED included) and the blade holder and the gold pins, I will be using this on my original graflex so as soon as they arrive I will let you know what the quality is like.
Cheers.

Yea sure that would be no problem. By the looks of things the LED driver unit is NOT included in the kit I have bought so I may have to order that as well. I might be wrong (so please correct me if I am) but the Driver unit looks to be a Corbin’s LED driver unit which is the same as the driver unit sold on TCSS... again please correct me if I’m wrong. Cheers.

yes that is a driver. but that won't give you sound. If you happen to have an old MR lyin around you can scavenge the board and have the driver and sound. If not here is a place that sells a customizable one for led driver and sound. it's a little expensive but well worth it. www.plecterlabs.com

I must admit I already have that link but thanks for posting it up I hope to get 1 of Corbin's driver units and 1 of plecter's, it would be nice to see which 1 is best of the 2. The sound for the Corbin's unit I will probably just nick the sound unit from my anakin ep3 fx. editedWhen I say which 1 is the best of the 2 I mean which 1 is best for me and what I want it for.

One half of my order arrived today from the Graflex shop ;D I must say the workmanship is brilliant. The blade holder its self is already coloured black so there is no need to spray it. Its all machined out so it can fit past the red button on the back and the little switch on the side of the graflex its self. In my opinion the Graflex shop blade holder looks to be the better of the 2 if you are using it on a REAL graflex. If you however intend to buy a graflex blade holder for an Ani EpIII then the TCSS blade holder looks good as it has the ring around the bottom of the blade. The blade holder from the graflex shop does not have this ring (the ring that is connected to the 'ears' on a real graflex). I don't know if that is included with the blade holder from TCSS or if you have to buy it separate . Hope that all makes sense, I will add some pics of me putting it together if they are still wanted/needed. Cheers

I know what you mean. the tcss one is made basically for the mr ani becouse the ears are just rivited to the outside of the hilt, on the graflex they are actually used to release the bulb (I think I'm right). Ya get some pics up when you can.
