A foot is 12 inches. I'm Canadian so I know how tricky the conversion stuff can be. I like Imperial for small stuff, as in measuring something under 20 feet or so, but above 6 or 7 meters I use metric. Whenever an American tourist asks me for directions I always give them a ton of metric and I play dumb when they ask what that is in miles.

For the conversion there are 25.4 mm (millimeter) in an inch or 304.8 mm in a Foot, and 914.4 mm in a Yard ... if you do not have a ruler handy, an mm is approximately the thickness of a US dime.

By the way, any info of how long is the "short saber", as in the Knights of the Old Republic?

I would venture a guess that they would be about the same length as Master Yoda's lightsaber blade. Most short sword blades are about 15 to 24 inches in length.

By the way, any info of how long is the "short saber", as in the Knights of the Old Republic? I don't know what the official line is on the KOTOR short lightsabers, but my not-yet-built costume will incorporate two short sabers (which have beed built, and yes, I was directly inspired by KOTOR). Mine are about 28" long (including the hilt), which I find is just about perfect.

I'm 6'4" and probably getting the 42" acrylic from Random. Would the 36" be too short for me?

At 6'4" the 42" should be the correct length according to normal bladed weapon practices.
I have thew 42" and it is a bit long for me.....I'm just about 6' (5'10.5") so I'd guess it to be good for you.

An average Katana blade is about 28". rest of the length is in the hilt. My next blade will be 30" to keep with the length I am accustomed to from the ones I have toyed with.

just go with what feels right. If it feels too blade heavy, whack some off.
