Ok, so here's the problem. Star Wars weekend is upon us and i'm leaving for it tomorrow morning. My lightsaber hilts are not done yet, and I have no clue what to do for a grip in that short amount of time with minimal skills and tools. Any ideas that won't take to long will be much welcomed.

try some leather strips and wrap it up, or make some kind of design

In the section of Lowe's (or Home Depot) that has the stick on chair gides and such is a good adhesive black foam (might be called Sure grip). Yopu can cut it to shape (I used wiper like strips) and stick it on.....you need to apply good pressure and repeat it over the first day or so, but it then holds well and gives a comfortablr cushy grip.

Thanks for the ideas. I did some last minute (literally) looking around on the forums and found someone who used the backside of a mousepad, and we have millions of them laying around the house so I took one of those and cut various shapes out of the middle and then glued it down to the two hilts of my sabers with this super strong spray glue and it worked great and looks really cool. I'll post pictures when I return from Disney World.

O rings would have worked. They did for me.

I seriously thought about that but when I got down to shopping for the parts, I couldn't find enough O-rings that were large enough that didn't cost $2 a piece. Believe it or not, the mouse pad was cheaper then two O-rings.

heck for most of my sabers i just use electical tape wraped in a even spiral. Looks good because its more of a vinyl than a tape. You could also have went to the sporting goods department at walmart and got a tennis racket rubber sleeve used to slide onto the racket handle. I used a blue one on one of my sabers. heres the pic:
