My old saber had the Covertec clip and of course I had the belt clip. Now my new saber has the ring like Luke's did. My question is, has anyone ahd a problem with the ring bending and you losing yoru saber? It seems rather flimsy and thin. I am thinking about soldering it together since it has already bent apart. Is this a good idea? And what is the best kind fo hook to hang it from your belt?

Is it just a regular bolt on D ring? would the design of it alow for a covertec clip? if nothing else and you like the covertec better, just take off the D ring and put on a covertec. wothout pics I'm not sure if this help.

That's what I was thinking about doing, just putting a Covertec on it anyways, but was wondering if D-rings hold up well enough. I'll post pictures tomorrow

I suppose it depends on how much hanging it is going to do.

It depends on the thickness of the d-ring itself. D-rings come in all types, you want one made from thicker rod for sabres ideally to take the weight.
For a belt hook I find spring steel hooks to be best so that the hook doesnt bend too.

I just used on from the picture hanging section at Home Depot. the big ones (best for ease of use anyway) can hold like 50lbs. I cant see those failing.

My D-ring is really thick on my Park Saber. I got a really cool clip at Lowes to hold it on my belt. I run around and do all kinds of stuff with it and the saber does fine....

Here's the d-ring: As youi can see, its already a tad misshapen just from my handling it. I do like Lazlo's belt hook, though, but am afraid the d-ring will just break if the saber is accidentally kicked. My new saber can be seen here

Could you try a key ring run it up through there instead of the D-Ring?

Hmmm... didn't think of a keyring. It would be a lot sturdier. That D-ring there looks nice too. Thanks guys!

that D-ring looks more like a thin aluminum wire folded over.....not too sturdy. The clip Lazlo pictured is the one I have used on the padawan sabers I've made as well as my son's belt. it is sturdy and has a retaining clip to keep the saber from bouncing off.
use a big key ring and it'll be plenty strong... The D-ring does look nice with that design. I'd try to keep it as opposed to going to a Covertech.
