well i wanna try both i love the bright LEDs i havent seen any pix of EL sabers spinin around so i cant say anything about them if any one would like to post pix of EL saber blades that would be fine...
i also hate the brightnes on the hilt of the LED sabers when thay spin... see this is a weired spot to be lol but idk
im thinking about geting the ultrasabers Aprentice saber and just guting it and make my own pvc hilt just so i can have sum more lightsaber time under my belt

well with alot of saber makers out there they (parks) use el sheet, I think LT does also. but what you want is HB(high brightness) el wire which is sold at TCSS.
I just dont know what would work better as alot of people just string it in there, Iam thinking of maybe bet a small dowel and coil the el wire around it tightly without braking the fradgle wire. and maybe a type of mylar deffuser. 3 layers of it with one layer scuffed up with like a brillow pad or something then wrap 2 other layers over it and that should make the light reflect quite well.
I think el could match with leds its just I think you need a good diffuser to help it.

Over at thecustomsabershop.com is alot of articals. the thread index is a good place to start. theres a forum called getting started or something like that it also gives alot of info.
