I like it, I wish I had a set up to where I could build stuff from the ground up. I like what ya did. I'm gonna have to try brass, brass looks real nice.

Thanks for the kind words. Brass really makes good result.
However, I'd like to say that I barely have a setup; traded my workroom for baby to have her own spot. I use my drill outside and that's about it - I have a drill, a dremel and some sanding paper. That's all that is needed to make that, plus the soldering iron if you need circuitery.

ya I really don't have much of anything just my computer desk. Need to make me a little area in the basement so the kids can't get into anything.

Decided to try the organic look, so the sith saber has been converted in an ancient lightsaber... An "organic look" a la Dark Woman... So I started from this: and I made - an Organic saber: Brass sink pipe PVC pipe overlay, Apoxy Sculpt, etc. 2-tone paint red-orange luxeon Star/O ultrablade Corbinscomponent driver puttied: repainted: with blade: Will alter the pommel later, but needed it quicker then expected. what do you think?

Thanks. I wasn't sure at all about making an alien-looking saber, and the for much of the whole process was scared about regreting it... Its my first try with this putty, and my first try at an organic style for a saber. But I am kinda happy of the current result. when in hand, looks like what I was trying to do.
If anyone have suggestions to make of stuff to help make this saber better, please let me know. I don't think its final... but I need it for an event this saturday so it will do for now.

Very nice result, but the way you told me about the project i was expecting something else actualy. Like a base of a lightsaber with some organic alien skin look a like. But this is very sick ( in a good way ). A bit H.R. Gigger thing. Very cool Olos. Always impressive work

Thanks for the kind words.
H.R. Giger is very much what I had in mind while trying to model the outter shell. Stey-Fann, I tough you saw the pre-paint sculpt of this saber last time you came to my place..?
I'm happy of the current result. I was really scared it woudln't give a nice result.
Did I mention I rushed the paintjob earlier then planned as I'll be needing the saber for an event this week-end? I tough of adding another layer of putty before going to the airspray, but it seams I won't have time and I need it a lot earlier then expected... Oh, well. Not so bad, I'm happy with the current result. I'll make something with the pommel, tough.

oh and if you have some problems with finger prints when you work with potty, use latex gloves, only if you dont want any prints. If yes, you can use dish washing gloves for texture.

I found that Apoxy Sculpt was pretty sticky. Yester I read that I could have added oil on my hands, ot wet the clay to minimize stickiness, but I wasn't aware of that. Gloves would have been hell with that stickiness, particularly knowing its made to stick to plastic material. When the oil & wet sugestions, I'd most likely try the latex gloves - good idea. Thanks Stey Fann.
I purposely added some texture in several spots - using clothes pieces and the like. I would have liked to have on-hand a textured faux-snake skin. I might do another session of sanding and putty in the future, plus another paint job.

Being the save-everything-type-artist that I am... I have alot of snakeskin that I saved to use for something... left from the snake when he sheds. It comes off in a whole piece... like an empty snake. That's a neat idea to use it for a saber.
