yep, seen it...that is why I wanted to do a field strippable lightsaber. There was a big discussion over this site a while back...I love their stuff.

Honestly, I don't think his designs look that good, at all. Some of his sabers are just downright fugly.

Let me tell you, these sabers weigh a TON! You pick one up and it feels like solid iron or something! It could really be a weapon!

Those ALW sabers are scary! But believable. In my humble opinion, I'd say the majority of them seem to be more akin to Sith use than Jedi use. Especially the ones that look like they have talons at the end. The curvy ones that look like vulture claws. I'd definitely say they fit into the Star Wars universe but, again, more so the Dark Side. Then again, I tend to believe in the idea that a "tool is just a tool". HOW you use it determines if you are of the Good Side or the Bad Side. [Still, I wouldn't want to use a red-bladed saber.........] May the Good Side of the Force be with us. Jay Tee www.rebellegionhawaii.com

I like Advanced Light Weaponry and the proprieter, Bob, is a nice guy. I have him building my lightsaber now. Bob puts an artistic spin on his designs and that makes them far more detailed than your average lightsaber. The lightsaber that he's building for me, though, is much more recognizable than his darker sabers. That's because the design he's building is my own design, not one of his own creation. ALW's sabers, though I've never held one, are expected to be heavy. As Bob says on his website, "I use a variety of metals and plastics, however most parts are high grade steel. I use precision transfer machined steel parts." My understanding is that the vast majority of lightsaber props are crafted from aluminum. Understanding this, it becomes readily apparent that one of ALW's steel lightsaber hilts is going to weigh more than an aluminum one. I really like the fact the ALW can and does build Hyper-Realistic lightsabers ("These sabers are made with internal parts. They can be field stripped, as if they were actual weapons. The internal parts include real crystals, wiring, and so forth"). This is the type of saber that is being built for me. ALW's lightsaber hilts are expensive, especially when you have one fully custom built for you, but there is no denying the quality of Bob's work. In the end I chose ALW for two reasons... first is the fact that he was the only custom maker willing to create my design for me and second, is the fact that the quality of his work speaks for itself.

Bob is a nice guy. Good luck with your saber... post pictures of it when you get it!

Will do. I'll have the saber paid for in full in November. Yes, you know it's expensive when I'm making payments on it. LOL It's beautiful, though, and unique in many respects. For the sake of examination, I have included the pictures of my design that Bob is building from.

Thank you for noticing. That was my precise aim when I began designing it years ago. I fused elements of both trilogies in order to create a lightsaber that could have been created in the time period between Episodes III and IV. It always thrills me when someone notices the intentional fusion of ideas. I am extremely anxious to hold this saber when Bob is done crafting it. This lightsaber, along with my robes, has been a dream of mine for years. To finally be able to hold this weapon and don the outfit will be a dream come true.

I'm really partial to the thin, brass piece below the emitter. I liked that feature on the OT style sabers and especially on Obi-Wan's RotS saber.

Thank you Leda. I'm not too partial to the solid one-piece construction of the prequel lightsabers and the separate lens assembly of the original trilogy sabers always caught my eye. When I designed my saber I made sure to include my two favorite features from the OT sabers... the lens assembly and the emitter shroud. I'm glad that I'm having the saber built without a blade of any sort... Had I decided on adding a blade the added weight would have worried me about putting strain on the lens assembly section of the saber.

Ah, that was my next question... blade or no?
I have several props without blades. The one I wear on my belt has none. If I want to duel, there's always MR, or the EL's.
