Just though I'd share: I have been scratch-building this piece and its ready to be molded (don't worry mods- its for a completley legit LFL client and and I am NOT selling copies to anyone else). I started with the body of a pop-up sprinkler head, filled it with resin, pulled out the resin plug, and then cut the curvy shapes into the pipe. The resin was a lot of dremel and sandpaper work. I molded the LED bezels off an Adi Gallia saber replica I have and made resin copies. I started with about a dozen photos of the orginal prop from all angles- I reduced them to the proper scale (the whole saber is about 7.5" long). The final piece will be resin with the machined tip seen in the later pics. Its not 100% accurate, but I think I got it pretty darn close. Fun little project! Comments please! pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mommydawn2000/album?.dir=/417fMark

That is a very good looking sidious saber, I like it very much. Did you also make that Anakin saber or did you purchase it. If you could give me some info on it I would greatly apreachate it ( you can post it or pm me). Thanks.

If you are looking for a belt-hanger prop, $120 sure beats $400 for the LE. Unlike previous FX sabers, this hilt seems to be the correct size (comparing it to a real graflex) and its still mostly metal. Mark

Thanks for the info. I am still waiting for my Fx saber to arrive. But I think I will buy a second one in the summer and do that instead of building a graflex EP.III replica.
How did you take apart the saber and remove the blade? Thanks for the info.

Thanks for the info. I am still waiting for my Fx saber to arrive. But I think I will buy a second one in the summer and do that instead of building a graflex EP.III replica. How did you take apart the saber and remove the blade? Thanks for the info. I had to disassemble and remove the electronics and blade and then 'plug' the holes with some appropriate Home Depot parts. Its too involved to describe it in words- If I do another one, I may do a tutorial with pictures. Suffice to say there are screws hidden underneath the two metallic 'button's toward the front as well as under the 'circuit board' detail- those are the keys to getting everything apart. These pieces are glued on, so you have to gently pry with something small to get them off. Mark

Wow, that's fantastic Could you post a picture fo the sprinkler head that the mold was taken from, I'd be really interested to see it's shape Also, what paint are you using for the final coat? Everytime I tried spraying something with chrome paint, it'd look fine until it was handled, and the only sealing paint I could find just reactivated the chrome paint and made it run :-\
