Is it possible to take a MR saber put a bunch of stuff in it for an EL blade? My friend says yes, I say no. Who would want to? After you spend all that money just to have it gutted? I have $20 on the line so I hope I am right. What you you think? Please help.

Well, this is a 2 part answer.
Can you take a stock static MR hilt and add guts to it for EL without modifying it? NO.
Can you add EL guts to a static MR? YES, BUT.............. you will pay out the nose to lathe all the solid material out from inside to make the room, drill holes to add set screws for the blade and jacks, etc.

Thanks Ahhnuld. So I guess I made $10, not $20. I owe you $5.
Well, with him seeing this, where you be a great place to start asking if anyone would? He wants to take his EII OWK and have a blade out in. Maybe even his MW.

I cannot perform suchs tasks, becasue I contract out to a machine shop for the raw cutting.
You could look locally for a shop to do the work, but like said, you will PAY for it, as well as risk getting dings and knicks from the handling, because they have to grip it somehow to run the bit through.
I would suggest checking out the replica props forum. There are some members who do some manual lathe work, and may be able to help you out. Another source to check would be Ryan at Random sabers. he does some custom work, and may be able to help also.
