I decided it would be very cool if my saber had some sort of sound system built into it. So, i took apart one of the lightsabers that make sounds, and put all the componants into my lightsaber. Every thing fits in nicely and snugly, but i have a problem. To turn on the sound, its one of those touch activated things that send the electrical currents through ur body. You have to keep you fingers on both wires to leave it on. Either I have to drill holes in the saber, or have them protruding out of the top. Any suggestions?

You could try drilling a hole in the side of the hilt and adding a small slide switch. You would then connect the wires that goes to the "touch activated thing" to the switch instead. Then you wouldn't have to keep your finger on it (you could accidentally leave it on and run your batteries out, though).

i have just completed the 3rd rebuild on my lightsaber. dont ask why....lets just say the thing really ticked me off. i dismantled a toy obiwan saber and removed the sound card. i found that a four pack of AA batteries would power it. dont use a 9 volt...youll fry it. i used plastic dip to coat the circuit board. this was a good idea as you dont want to short it out. i mounted the speaker in the end cap ala the toy anakin training saber after drilling holes in it based on that cap. i found the red button from the box it came in to be the momentary on off switch needed to activate the sound. after putting in the emitter plus plug, the inverter for the EL blade, a switch on the opposite side [postitve on/off] to activate the EL and a 9 volt battery to power it. total length about 11 1/2 inches. weight about a pound or so. the speaker echoing inside the saber gives it a good fairly loud sound. i had thought of taking a MR saber apart to get a better sound card, but thats way too expensive. i dismantled a toy anakin one, but the circuit board is way to complicated, otherwise it would have worked had i found a way to turn the voices off. thats good for training, but not for a jedi master. anyway the overall effect is pretty good, but i dont think i will attempt it again. there is absolutly no room left inside. ireally jamed stuff in there. battery changing will be a real challenge. does anyone else know where a sound card can be found other than at LIGHTECH? that one is compact but sounds distorted and a little faint. if anyone has any other questions, let me know.
