The holidays are almost upon us! This is an exciting time, though I don't know if I'm looking forward to winter weather; around here, it tends to last fairly long. After a few months, I begin to feel like I've been exiled to Hoth! There's a girl at work with a white ski jacket who I told looked exactly like "Princess Leia on Hoth."
Unfortunately, she didn't get the reference.
Oh, well. I love making geek references like that to baffle and confound, but every once in a while, you'll get someone who starts laughing hysterically because, oh yeah, they got it! HA!!! Makes it all worthwhile....
May the Force be with you....

Had my tonsils removed a couple of days ago...hurts like nobody's business! HRNNNNNHHH!!! While I'm recovering, though, I'm reading the Heir to the Empire series; I bought the entire three-book set a month ago in paperback because it's something I've always wanted to own. Of all the series in the Expanded Universe, I've always believed Heir to the Empire would have been worthy of being made into a movie, Episodes VII through IX. Of course, even when the series came out in 1992, the actors were all a little too old to get back into their original roles, so I though photographic computer generated characters voiced by the original cast would be the key to it (for a reference of the technology, see Final Fantasy). We all know how awesome a voice actor Mark Hamill is, and the others could certainly spare the time, I'm sure, since voice acting doesn't require nearly as much of a restricted schedule as filming. Less strenuous, certainly plausible, and seeing Grand Admiral Thrawn brought to life on the big screen is a dream come true for me. He's definitely a worthy Imperial adversary for our heroes.
Okay...enough rambling...may the Force be with you!

I can't believe it's been 10 years since the Phantom Menace!
TEN YEARS!!!
That's an entire decade!
I remember I was working at a DoubleTree Hotel in New Orleans at the time of its release; I was a parking valet, you know, handling bags, parking cars, and calling cabs for guests, some who were so full of self-importance that they were demanding and ugly. But most of the guests were nice, and the pay was good, especially for a college kid working his way through a late degree in Journalism. One of our regular cabbies wanted to go see the movie. At the time, I knew of Star Wars and liked it, a lot, but not so much that I knew all of the in's and out's of the wonderful Lucasverse (I totally just made that up; I'm so terribly clever, ain't I? [;-D]). Anyway, he wanted to see the Phantom Menace, and I wanted to see it, so after work, we went and waited in line. Man, the excitement in the air, the tension, the mystery...it was in-freakin'-credible! There were, of course, fanboys and fangirls there, some who I knew of from local NOLA (New Orleans, LA) conventions, including the reigning kingpin of the convention circuit, Robert "Bobby Tuesday" Naegle.
We sat down, and then the lights dimmed, and a hush fell over the crowd....
The 20th Century Fox intro...the Lucasfilm, LTD. logo...and then, finally, the opening Star Wars fanfare...!
We would go back and forth over the merits of Episode I for years to come (10, to be exact, apparently), but one thing was for sure: I had never been present for Epidoe IV (I was too young), and seeing it re-release in 1997 for the 20th Anniversary in the theater had been magical. I felt some of that magic the night I went to see the Phantom Menace in the theater, and Jar Jar aside, I've enjoyed watching George Lucas expand his universe, and, even better, I've enjoyed tremndously watching him allow other writers expand it, too.
May the Force be with you....

Greetings and salutations, universe and fellow Jedi!
I haven't been on in a looooooong while, I know, but it's been madness--madness, I tell you!--at the hospital where I work. I don't know if any of you know much about what I do, but I handle Insurance Follow-Up, which is basically calling the insurance comapnies and asking why they haven't paid on a patient's claim yet or sending an invoice out to the nursing homes for services rendered for their residents, only to discover that the nursing homes are a bunch of cheap bast...but I digress...Anyway, so we've been sold--willingly--to a new company. We're still the same hospital and we're still all employed--thus far--but we are now employees of a new company. As such, I've spent the past four or five months--I've lost track; the days and weeks have blurred together!--cleaning out my old Accounts Receivables. We had to have all our accounts settled or adjusted completely, and all old mail taken care of, either replied to or destroyed, especially since we're now operating under a new tax I.D. number.
Hmmm...I think this is why I don't talk much about work...it's incredibly dull! Lol!
Oh well...it's good to be back! I'll have to catch up on The Clone Wars, certainly, so I'm going to peek in on some other forums within the Board....
May the Force be with you!

Glad you are posting My sis works for a geriatric unit in a hospital... like critical nursing home. Its amazing the stuff that they have to do and charge insurance for. Its all because of the chance that if they don't do such and such procedure or test that some family will sue if the patient dies. amazing really...
