Ok, here is my opinion of what Lucas should have named the first three SW films.
SW EP1: "The Return of the Sith" Why: Because naming it Return of the Sith would have brought the story full circle. The Return of the Sith, The Sith reappear on the scene to take over and destroy the Republic. EP 6 "Return of the Jedi" The return on the scene to restore the Republic. You see, full circle.
SW EP2: The Phantom Menace"
Why: Why call this one The Phantom Menace? Well, it was a kind of mistery. Who is after the Senator. Who is after the Jedi. Who is behind the Clone Army. A hidden Menace, somewhat of a Phantom behind it. Hence, The Phantom Menace.
SW EP3: "The Fall of the Republic"
Why: Simple, This is where the true down fall of the Republic starts. The Jedi are wipped out. And the Empire rises.
That would then make SW EP4: "A New Hope" make more sense. THe Rebels and the fallen Republic have A New Hope of being restored. Then of course SW EP5, "The Empire Strikes Back" The empire striking back to stay in power. and then, of course, SW EP6, "The Return of the Jedi" The Jedi returning to restore the Republic, bringing the circle to close.
That of course is my opinion.

that seems to make enough sense, but I'd say I'm happy with what we got... I was expecting "fall of the republic" or something similar for the real title

Awesome thinking, Jai! Now, I'd like to see some for the OT!

I was hoping for "Rise of the Empire" Now that would have been a good title. But RotS is definitely approriate... Anakin is taking revenge on the Jedi by destroying them.

Out of all the fan-made titles going around, I knew that I would be equally happy with either Birth (or Rise) of the Empire, or Revenge of the Sith. I figured George would pick one of those because A) Birth has not only an empire but twins as well being born; and B) Revenge relates to "Revenge of the Jedi" that almost was. As for Jaiven's title thoughts, I thought TPM had just as much mystery as AotC, you just didn't recognize it because it was more of a kids movie. Plus, the Sith are still in hiding in TPM. Darth Maul wants to reveal himself, but he is only able to do so to 2 Jedi. Then he gets acrophobic separation anxiety. Darth Sidious won't actually reveal himself until ROTS. Even Dooku tried to pretend he had no affiliation with the bad guys until the Jedi caught him red handed. I think Revenge of the Sith will suit this movie very well because this is were Anakin takes the place that Darth Maul should have had. Ani will get revenge on Obi-Wan for holding him back, he'll get it on Padme for hiding the twins, he'll get it on everyone that he thinks ever tried to hurt him. He will become Sith, and he will have his revenge.

...and the Sith (the one other) gets his revenge when he takes Anakin from the Jedi and leads him to the dark side. Nothing is worse than being destroyed by one of your own.

The titles are great as is. I had been hoping for Revenge of the Sith for the longest time, and that presentation at Comic Con where they announced it was incredible.

Never been to comic-con although my son Anim8r has. Hopefully one of these years! lol!!! I just took a look at your Anakin costume.... wow, man, awesome job! The only movie title that felt rather odd at first was Attack of the Clones, but it grew on me. Still my first reaction was HUH? ...no way, he can't be serious!
