I looked everywhere before starting a new thread, so if this is redundant my apologies: A friend of mine surprised me with an ancient video earlier this week, an original copy of the Holiday Special taped right from the TV. It was complete with 1970's Kenner comercials for the 12 action figures and two ships available at the time. After about ten minutes of torture I was reminded that we tend to look back on memories with rose-colored glasses. Don't get me wrong, it was fun to take a walk down memory lane, but all I kept saying was, "Thank God for the Empire Strikes Back!" and "Oh, what SW could have been!" It's like how I explained it to my wife (who, let's say, wasn't here for quite as much of the seventies as I was) Back then we didn't have video stores to go rent SW, in fact, most of us didn't have VCR's at the time. A movie would run for a few weeks or months, and then you waited for it to run on HBO, and then that was it. We didn't know there would ever be an ESB, or a ROTJ, and especially the PT, so the Holliday Special was the best fix for some new addicts. I say all that to say, if you get a chance to see (or re-see) the Holliday Special, jump at it. It's a big piece of SW history and it'll make you count your blessings!

One good thing came from teh Holiday Special ... the debut of Boba Fett!
I, too, have an ancient copy of the holiday special. I watch it every so often just to groan

You're right about Boba. My wife didn't sit through the whole thing, but I insisted that she sit down and watch that part, because of the historical moment it was!

I will they would have included that with the DVDs so fans from my age group could see this show. I mean Boba Fetts first show. Maybe they'll put it on the DVD i hope they make of the Clone Wars cartoons. (maybe they make a DVD after the new ones come out )

I don't think GL wants people to know that this even exists. Maybe it was something that he had to do. I thought Harvey Corman was pretty funny in it.

I have the impression that more than just Lucas wish this would have never happened. I can only imagine what Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford would say about it today. Still though, it was a fun walk down memory lane, and it did make me appreciate what we have today. I think the wookies in ROTS will be good therapy!
