From TF.N
SW TV in 2006
"I don't know if this is old news, but I haven't heard of it before. In one of the magazines my company publishes (License! Europe) Howard Roffman, the President of Lucas Licensing, confirms their will be "...in Autumn 2006 there will be a complete live action Starwars TV series made by Lucasfilm". "The magazine is not "out" yet, my office copy arrived today so perhaps this is new news for you - or old stuff I've missed out on. Still I thought I'd let you know, just in case. "

There is a HUGE discussion about a STAR WARS t.v. series on the STARWARS.com boards. There are a lot of fans that think it would be bad. I think it would be good but that is just my opinion. What does everyone else think? Good or Bad?

There are possibilities of both good and bad occuring. Personally, I think that the good scenario would most likely occur in the following manner: GL draws out the basic storyline, perhaps writing 1 page/episode. A writer takes that storyline from GL, writes out the action and dialogue, then gives it back to GL for quick approval. GL produces the show, but does not direct. ILM does the effects. The show focuses on characters that exhibit the ideals of their factions, with possible cameos by heroes from the trilogies. EU planets are shown, perhaps EU characters, definitely EU species. Because GL has first and last say on this, everything put in the show should become canon. That is how this show will succeed.

Well Star Trek got its start on the little screen and look at where it went for a while. Star Wars is all ready a hit and the clone wars were awarded so i think it will be great.

Well I thought of it a while ago, and what would be good and possibly fitting with the movies would be to set the series in the Sith era 4000-1000 BBY. Show how their greed destroyed them, and at the same time show the creation of the Jedi Order as seen in the PM. HTa would be wicked, just immaging all the lightsaber fighting and mannipulations... Of course that would alow a lot of creativity and less involvment from Lucas. A bit like with the books and comics...

I'd be ok with an amimated series... Clone Wars was awesome. I'm not sure if I'd like a live action show... it would have to be really good... someting on par with Star Trek.

Well I agree, a cartoon would be better, though something like what was done with the animated starship troopers could be nice too. I bet they are already prepping all this for post EPIII. Have you seen that two novel are goiing to be set 4000-1000 years BBY. Elizabeth Hand is writting one of them. That would mean that the SW franchise might work with this periorde? What are yours thoughts?

That's one of teh rumors, that the show will be set Old Old Republic in the Sith Wars years. That would bew cool.
And since Lucas now has an animation studio in Japan, we may just see some cartoons from them.

More confirmation from Rebelscum:
License Europe recently had the chance to talk to the President of Lucas Licensing, Howard Roffman. The article is now online and a very good read. Points of interest from the article include the mention of segmenting the toy market for collectors and the mass market. Also when asked "Will There be more Star Wars TV? He replied, "Yes, in autumn of 2006 there will be a complete live action Star Wars TV series made by Lucasfilm." So now we have even further confirmation that there will indeed be more of the Star Wars universe coming after Episode III, Revenge of the Sith!
