I never saw Vader as evil back then. He showed too many conflicting things, with Luke and more. Now Palpatine is and was evil through and through. But vader was double-edged in his actions and words in many spots in the trilogy. You just have to watch and see what I mean. Like "he's just a boy." to Palpy, his "It's too late for me." in ROTJ. Just watch esp. ESB and ROTJ--you'll see. JMD PS The truly evil villians: Palpatine, Bester of Babylon 5 and the villians in LOTR.

Yeah, Palpy is truly Eviiil???, but Vader, I see what ya mean. Sorta trying to brake out of his evil trend, but doesn't believe he can.

When we saw TPM for the first time, my friends and I did some comparison between Vader and Maul. We decided that Vader was much m,ore cruel and calculating, while Maul was just evil. Vader had much more control over himself. He just didn't jump and attack, he planned and watched and anticipated. Maul was just evil.

Even Maul isn't truly evil, just mixed up due to Palaptine. In the books and even in the film, watch how Palpatine knows how to push buttons or be two-faced, by being a friend to one conflicting side and turn around and be a friend to that one. He's two-faced, all to get his own ends, without using his Force abilities. Smart and truly evil. JMD

I wonder how the Jedi don't sense that Palpy's evil, I mean, he's the Chancoler(sp?), they see him a lot. I guess he can use the force to hide his evil side:-/.
