What I was meaning about the covertec is this: that type of thing didn't exist in the 1970's when the Original Trilogy was filmed...they used D-rings to do the prop because that's what they had. Not that Obi Wan lost a piece or damaged his saber... just that the props department on the set of the movie didn't have that type of connector.
That's the sort of thing we need to keep in mind when looking at the Original Trilogy compared to the Prequel Trilogy: these movies were made decades apart, so many visual aspects change because we can now portray the Star Wars galaxy in a different way. Often, the telling of the tale changes over the years due to new or better techniques...
Sort of like this: a highschool theater dept puts on "Romeo and Juliet" and Romeo gets to use wooden sword prop...on the other hand, a professional theater department might also do a production of "Romeo and Juliet", in which they have much better props and costumes...real swords, etc. This does not mean that somehow Romeo traded in his wooden sword for a real one ... it just means that the new production has better resources with which to PORTRAY Romeo's sword...

too true...... I have a Convertec set up on my home-made saber...and a d-ring and clip set up for my Park's....but I mainly use the Parks...my own is waaaaay heavy..... and you can really look impressive by zipping your saber off of the convertec in one smooth motion... ;D I can't do that yet. I still look like a nit-wit trying to get my saber off my covertech clip. Just anyone at Leda's party when the that little Jango Fett kept attacking me. I agree with Kai Rhann. Sometimes there IS no other explaination other than that now they are using covertech clips becasue they can. But I'm sure it will come out in some sourcebook somewhere that's it's some sort of charger port. lol!

Kai I knew what you ment about the equipment.. prop and costume artist gotta deal with what they have at the time. I do that all the time.
Schph, I have problems because the weapon is on my LEFT side and I'm a right handed person.. I'm a little short between the hips and waist so the saber sits right in the middle of my ribs. Talk about a rib jabber. It's another reason WHY I make my Obis thickerm padding for my ribs. LOL.
I'm almost tempted to make a holster like the Andromeda show has for the Highguard Force lance weapon then I can draw faster.:-D
I can fast draw it off the belt but the coverec clip comes with it. :-)

What might make drawing your saber easier, Mynn, is to actually draw with your left hand: you draw it "upside down" with this method, but after you draw with the left, you then grasp it with your right hand (into a ready position from there). Might sound odd, but outside of showing you firsthand, it's difficult to describe.
I can draw easily from the left side. I'm quite used to drawing swords in the same fashion: cross-drawn with the right hand from the scabbard worn at the left side.
Lightsabers are traditionally worn on the left side, and this is probably the reason: a fall-back to the old days of swords being carried. Of course, if it is easier or more comfortable to carry yours on the opposite side, there's no reason why you could not wear yours on the right. You could even mount your covertec button on the opposite end (carrying the saber "emitter up"). It's all a matter of personal preference...

The drawing method you described is how I do it. The samurai sword draw is a good way. ;-)
I'll keep working at it. :-) I did find out I've pretty flexible wrists. I can do lumeria's or Barriss' Lightsaber poses without any problems what so ever.

I wear mine on the left with a covertec clip and I use my left to draw using thumb and pinky to presslock buttons and mid and fore finger to grasp and draw I can do it fairly fast and clean most of the time. Just a thought Mynn , but your build may be your problem as you discussed. Just try my method on a carpeted surface. In case you fumble the saber (scratches) that wouldnt be cool.

Sure....I read it.....
but I am a little disturbed....seems about the only way to get a hold of the publisher is by e-mail...I could not find an 800 number anywhere in the publication.....
and when I sent an e-mail...I really never got a response....
