I have a problem with riding boots in that my calves are 18.5" at their widest (probably more like 19" with material). I haven't been able to find a pair of riding boots that even come close to fitting or looking good. I have been looking at military tanker boots though and was wondering if anyone out there uses this style of boot and maybe could share some pictures of how it looks with the whole set-up. They are a bit shorter than typical riding boots (only about 10" tall). They also come in a black leather, but the tan suede kind of appeals to me. Let me know what you think.

I like the look of those. I also have large calves, but not as large as yors. I found some boots that have elastic in the back for stretching. I know JCPenney ahd some that the entire back panel was elastic, but it looked ugly

I'm with you on this....I will need 20" calves on my boots if anything other than my leg is to go into them. This has stopped me from getting boots since the "Affordable" ones simply aren't that big. East Coast costume boots do come that wide but are then way too long for my feet.
Adding a good pair of uppers to those should work out......

tan would be more in keeping with the Jedi colors... they actually look pretty cool...and not something you see every day....
the only thing that I don't see as very Jedi is the lugged sole..
10" tall is a little short...

I think I'm just going to have to buy an inexpensive set of brown leather boots and just slit the backs, and install an expansion piece of brown leather, vinyl or stretch material.
I still might play with combining these with some spats or something else later.

I, too, have struggled with the larger calf issue... and have some quite sarcastic comments for those who purchase the boots we see for sale in stores such as Nordstrom (I found the PERFECT boots at Nordy's, but you have to have a 14" or less calf to fit in those beauties... ugh!) I hate Steve Madden...
I did purchase wide calf boots (they like to call them 'plus-sized') online, but they are not perfect.
Does anyone have an idea of how much it costs for a cobbler to add a gusset to boots? I have found many, many boots that I would have given my eye teeth for, if the calf was just a bit more roomy... However, I don't want to pay $100+ for boots and then pay another $100 to have them modified.

I wound up with a nice pair of brown mid-calf high motorcycle boots. I really like the leather on these and they are uber comfortable. Haven't really tried them on with the full outfit, but even if they come out a little too short I can always add toppers. Neil
