that price is still very high, if you want a specific character's boots, then its good, but the price is so high. Mind you this price is for a pair of CUSTOM MADE boots, meaning the boot maker do not make a boot of this design, and have no such boot in his inventory. For a third the price you can get a pair of boots that are just as good for your costume. For a third the price you can get A PAIR OF BOOTS for your costume. However I doubt you can get THE pair of boots you want for your costume, and at the same quality. The pair of boots shown above that I got for Seda is the same quality as a pair of upmarket Polo boots, and no one will scoff at Seda if he wore it to a Polo match.
Of course, at the end of the day we each have to work within our means, and our preference.

Update...finally got my boots "done" I'm pretty happy with them. The spats that i made previously....didnt dye correctly due to the shabbiness of the leather. here's a pic: anyway...so i tossed those out...and started anew. i re-read this thread a few times and adopted some of the suggestions from Ani and others. I reinforced the spats around the edges and center to keep them from "bulging" here are some pics: and dyed them to match the boots...light brown color....3 or 4 coats of dye. i still need to put on a couple more coats of satin shene. that will help to even out the color a bit. As always...comments and critiques are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks, Den

They're looking very good. The spats look a bit lighter than the bottom of the boot. Is that how they look or is it just the photograph? Do the spats move around much when you walk?
I had a similar issue after I photographed my boots with straps, I noticed that that straps really were darker than I liked and I added another coat of dye and they look fine now.
