Well I finally got some boots that fit! My mom had ordered a pair from one of those home shopping channels and they didn't fit her. She called me last night and asked me if I would like to try them on, so I said sure, what did I have to lose right. She told me she was going to be out running errands today, and wondered if it would be alright if she stopped by my office at noon so that I could try them on. I told her that would be fine, so that's what she did. Well they fit!!;D Oh I'm a happy camper now. Not only that, but they look like a riding boot and they're brown. Now to finish up my costume, not much left to do there it's just finding the time, and make my belt. We don't have any leather shops in town, so I ordered the "stuff" off of the Tandy website Monday night. I got a confirmation email, so hopefully the leather is on the way. Oh yes I also need to break the boots in, ouch, ouch, ouch!

Congrats Anaka, Get 'em wet. Put 'em on, get 'em wet in the shower and they SHOULD stretch and loosen upto form to your feet better. Anyone else try thsi method? If so, does it work? I've tried it with military combat boots and Doc. Martin's.

One of the ladies in my office was telling me to get the boots wet and wear them until they dry. She uses this method to stretch out her leather shoes all the time and she swears by it, so there must be something to it. I think I may give it a try if just wearing them doesn't do the trick.

yeah it sound like it would work... In high school I used to do that with jeans to make them fit Well rigt now I'm having an opposite issue... how to make boots that are three sizes too big fit. I'm taking them to the shoemaker tomorrow to see if he can re-sole them and chop off the excess... it's a long shot!

I wish you luck and hope the shoemaker is able to help you. From what I've heard it is possible to make them smaller, I just hope they end up looking alright once it's been done. Last weekend I went in to buy more leather from the leather shop I recently found, and while I was there I talked to the owner about resizing boots. I asked him if they looked OK after they had been altered, and he showed me a pair of riding boots he was working on. He had removed quite a bit from one of the boots and, from what I saw, it looked great. I just hope you have the same luck with your boots. I'm going to take a pair of mine down this weekend to see if he can stretch them out for me. I would really like to have two pair of boots to wear so I can switch off from time to time. ;D
