Gotta tell you....I am truly stoked! I had been looking at my $26.00 e-bay boots....I do love them...they are comfortable....real leather....come up to just below the knee cap....and have a low heel.....but they just didn't look Star War-sy enought. So I went to the local Yellow Pages to find a shoe repair or leather person.... Boy....did I find one! This guy has a shop full of custom stuff (a lot of Harley Davidson-ish biker stuff)..... anyway..I came into his shop with my boots in hand....a copy from the internet of the "motorzoovy" boots...also my brand new Jedi belt....and both the Ep I and Ep II Visual Dictionaries...my lightsaber and food capsules....just so he could see what hangs on the belt and what the SW boots looked like....
I showed him the dictionaries and told him that I would like to make my boots look a little more "Star Wars"....... I also showed him my way too big belt....
Well this guy got a big grin on his face....and said ...yeah...I can do this...I can put a different buckle on your boots...put the three straps on top like Obi-Wan...he pointed out some "less that perfect" stuff on the "motorzoovy boots"...AND he can have my boots done in a week! He also is going to make me a new belt...one that is made from an old piece of leather that will look worn already....he pointed out some cheesy features on my belt......to say the least...I am excited! This guy is a true artisan...he is going to do the boots for $30.00-$40.00 and a completely new belt for $70.00! What was so neat about this guy is that when we got done talking he said..... "hey....THIS is going to be fun!" Can't tell you what that meant for me to hear....this will be not just another job for him...but "fun"!
He also looked at the pouches in the Visual Dictionary and he said..."Hey....I can do this".....so when the budget allows....I will have him make pouches too.
Then he asked me if I thought there would be a market for this kind of stuff.....I said...duh....yeah!
Anyway...I will post how the whole thing turns out because I will be picking up the boots next week AND he may even have the belt done too!

I will try to post pictures...but I don't know how.... I figured out how to put a picture below my name...but that comes from another web site....I don't have a web-site to post pictures to....well, at least not yet anyway.
I am planning on wearing my whole new costume next Saturday for Chicago Force's Video Scavenger hunt in downtown Chicago...I will assume someone will take pictures and they will be posted to their website...I will have to see... I don't think I will wear the costume if it is raining though...because we will be outside all night.

Wow Schph, that sounds so awesome!
I'm on a quest for a good pair of boots for my costume. Any suggestions for places to buy them from?

I posted this information on the Belts thread....so sorry if this is going to sound redundant......but.... I went to pick up the boots and belt from the leatherworker on Saturday.....they are so beautiful I nearly cried.....I am sure I was babbling the whole time he showed me my stuff.
My boots were purchased off of E-Bay for a mere $26.00. I had searched there for months and finally found and won the aution on mine. They are Nine West all leather boots with a very small heel. They had a strapy thing on the ankle with a buckle. I loved them, they fit good, they were to the knee...but not very Star Wars. The leathermaker put the three straps at the top like Obi-Wans, removed the leather at the ankle and put the same leather as the three top straps...took off the buckle completely and used the loops like on the top straps...the leather matches the boots exactly.....they are absolutely beautiful. ( I left the boots with him so he could put new rubber on the heel...I was wearing them funny and the rubber was worn almost to the heel material). The belt he made from scratch...from the same leather that the boots are made of....it is thick but very soft and pliable (the belt I bought from the Prop Palace is shiny and stiff and I don't like it...besides the fact that the belt is too big for me). It looks just like Obi-Wans and the "adjustment feature" is a working adjustment...not just a visual thing....I can gain 100 pounds or lose 50 and this belt will still fit! I left the belt with him also, because he is putting a lightsaber clip on it...he wanted my input on where and what style the clip should be.
Anyway....the stuff is completely awesome! He finished all of this in two days!
I will be discussing pouches with him too. I have to pick up my stuff again on Monday or Tuesday.....he made one request of me....that I come to pick up my stuff in my tunic and robe so that he can see the whole costume come together! I will try to remember to bring my camera!
Anyway....here is the information on his shop: Wholly Cow 352 W. Maple New Lenox IL 60451 815-485-4810
I'm sure that he can do just about anything...If you have a picture of what you want...or a drawing...I am sure he can do it!

I think I know that fabric...that sounds like the fabric my robe is made out of....a sheed on the inside does look like a lining....the robe goes well with with my first costume...but tried it with the new costume....and it doesn't go well..... Will have to save up for new robe material.

Is there any real style that the boots are supposed to be? I'm confused again. *L*

Jendal, your always confused. Jedi boots are really for thr most part mundane earth riding boots. Really any boot will work, depending on the style of the individual person, personally I think any real boots would work, provided they go with the costume. As a side note, certain knee high ren faire style boots work well. As for the idea of getting a pair of combat boots and making a half chap to cover the holes, well that will work for someone who is willing to spend the money, but for my self, I'm making a set of knee high boot tops to complete both my jedi regalia, and my renassaince garb for next years faire.

Fine if boots can be any style I'll just wait till my event boots are done. Nice thick elk hide boots with antler buttons and leather lacing. Nice dark brown they are. If you guys really want cloaks or belts cheap send me a line. I can make them custom for yas. And it'll be decently priced.

But not a pair to wear........Well, my tunic is finished. My robe, belt and Lightsaber(took 12 weeks for that) are here. I have ordered my pouches.....but my boots(Adi Gallia) had to be redone because they sent me a men's ten(measurements) instead of a women's ten(which are my measurements). I can't figure out how they did that one.... They had to go back to Thailand because they were made for my feet from my measurements and they were held up in customs for 15 days. I just got an e-mail from the company saying that they finally have them and they are fixing then now. I didn't have them for Halloween, so I'm shooting for Volkon..........WILL I EVER GET TO BE A JEDI? * sigh* I shall practice my patience. When I get through all of this I will be able to handle any of the Jedi trials.....LOL
