Several of the EU novels by Jude Watson allude to a storage area where sabers are kept alongside w/ training sabers. In one of the novels, Obi-Wan abandons the Jedi Order to stay on Melida/Daan. He returns his saber to Qui-Gon, and when Qui-Gon returned to the Temple, he placed Obi-Wan's saber on a "rack" with the other training sabers.
I also read the novel in the "Last of the Jedi" series by Watson about the storage room in the Temple that Leda EmBorr is referring to. My impression from my first reading of it was the room was more of an ad-hoc area where the 501st and Imperials just "dumped" the hilts of fallen Jedi unceremoniously. It did not seem like an official Jedi saber storage area to me.

Masters. [bows]
Don't forget, too, that there's the scene in the X-Wing Series when Corran escapes the Lusankya and finds himself in the museum where he eventually discovers his grandfather's lightsaber. It's entirely possible that Qui-Gon's lightsaber was kept in a similar type of place, but sealed off after the Purge. While the Emperor likely wanted to wipe the Jedi from the collective memory of the Galaxy, I find it hard to believe that he would have destroyed all of those artifacts. You know how greed works...you have a lot, so you want more. Eventually you might get everything, but you'll still want more.
Think of WW2. Hitler stole all of that great art from around Europe and just stored it. He didn't use it or display it. He horded it and locked it up. It's the old "It's mine, and I'm not sharing with anyone" mentality.

Qui-Gon's sbaer could ahve been there...but like Etain kept her slain masters saber. Wonder why obi-wan didn't?
